Hello people. I just set up a new SoR trial a few minutes ago and I'm working on downloading the client, and I was wondering: how common are the different races, in general?
I looked at the descriptions of the 4 to get a feel for which I might like to make, but I always decide in part what to play in a new game based on what is common, rare, etc.
So, of the 4 races, could I get a ranking of most to least common overall? You needn't be specific, I'm just curious of any general patterns leaning toward one or another race.

mmm i think thats hard to judge....
zorai is the least populated - no doubt about that.
i think matis and fyros are the most popular with tryker in the middle.

Hey there Lectral, welcome to the Bark.
General paterns in races .... I guess one could say the Matis are somehow the most popular race. They' re the most humanlike, but also have a very strong link with 'fantasy elves'. Don' t take that for granted though as once you delve a bit into the lore of Atys you' ll see they' re very very differently.
Second most popular race may either be the Fyros, the tall proud warriors of the desert, or the Tryker, the 'smaller' freedom-loving Children of the Wind.
Zorai, the most mystical race, but also the one most out of place with the rest of the races (due to wearing a mask to commemorate their link with the Kamis, and in being blue), tends to be the least prefered since they seem more 'alien'-like by some.

matis are your elves.. the most popular like always..

tryker are the gnomes, from how much people atlk about how cute they are I figured they'd be 2nd place.. but I thinkt hey're really third...
and lastly are the zorai.. I think the big reason is the lack of custimization with the mask. They just aren't as visually attractive as the other races because of it. Maybe if you could change the mouth...

The interesting thing about the factions in Ryzom, I think, is that there is no good side. 
It's not simply Good vs. Evil...it's a conflict of idealogies, both of which may be right and wrong in some ways, depending totally on your character's opinions of them. No race is tied to a particular faction, though Zoraï and Fyros are commonly Kamist, Matis Karavaneer, and Tryker...well, Trykers are all over the place. But you can choose any faction regardless of race, and even change faction later. Or choose neither Kami nor Karavan, and remain neutral. Or follow the lesser-known "third faction," Elias Tryton.

Maybe from a tryker perspective but the fyros are bearly taller than the trykers, i've a fyros female a touch shorter than male NPC trykers in FH. so i wouldn't really call the fyros 'tall'.calel wrote:...the Fyros, the tall proud warriors of the desert...
Further complication is that 3 of the races have all towns in 1 zone, fyros have them in seperate zones, so Pyr seems less populated in comparison, as many will use Dyron for domestic tasks.
