Still wondering why negative posts are being deleted

Post by lucasd »

Still curious why any post pertaining to a Gm's poor behaviour were being deleted. Over a dozen posts from numerous people were deleted the other day after my post on Takashi accusing me of exploiting because of my prime roots level was closed. I have never heard of this kind of thing before, is nevraux really so worried about negative feedback? The least you could do is respond in some fashion rather than just arbitrarily deleting all posts about the subject. I imagine this one will be closed in short order but I hope some people at least see it before it does. This is how Nevraux handles issues.

My advice would be to see the situation for what it is and quit wasting time on this product, unless, of course, you truly find yourself infactuated with it. I really expected great things and received wonderful ideas poorly implemented. I haven't played since around September 30th, but since I payed my $45, I still peruse the boards every other day or so to see if I am wrong about the future of this game and the intent of it's developer/publisher. So far I see no 'light at the end of the tunnel' to make me 'eat my words.'

Sometimes you must call a spade a spade and move on to other things.

The words "beating a dead horse" might be a good clue.

It was talked to death. Everyone had their say. Everyone made their point.. some repeatedly. There was nothing more to say or add to it. The thread was no longer constructive or productive. So, the thread was deleted.

I wish more moderators did the same on other game forums, instead of letting them go on for 40 pages.

Maybe it’s because the "negative post" on this particular subject turn into a bitter rant-fest.

But that's just a guess.

(I realize my post falls into this category also.)

Edit: You beat me by four minutes!

While indirectly on the topic of that earlier problem you had with DP after the changes to Prime Roots, I take it that you decided to bite the bullet and spend the several hours working off the DP. Giving up on the character and starting over was obviously a silly thing to suggest.

The post was closed less than an hour after creation, so I would hardly say it was beating a dead horse. It never had time to turn into anything because it was deleted so rapidly. No response was given by nevraux as to how this was an exploit, which is all I wanted, instead they simply censored any posts related to it. As for giving up, it was only due to support from members of my guild that I didnt. They were able to beat the guards at the entrance to the PR and I was able to work off my Dp. I am not trying to make any point. I simply want an explanation and instead of one being offered, my posts are being rapidly deleted. This is the 2nd thread actually that I have started that has not been deleted, and as I said earlier, my initial post was closed in under an hour and with only 6 replies, not what I would consider talked to death. I dont understand your attitude Lupine.

This is the third thread you've started now relating the same topic that was discussed and talked to death in the *first* thread about it.

How many threads do you need to make your point?

It's not censorship - You had your say. So did others. It's called keeping the conversation moving and the forum uncluttered with stagnant topics that have run their course.

I also recall Cerest mentioning that it wasn't appropriate to bring it into a public forum. Perhaps that was a hint to follow up with him directly in private messages if you wished to continue the discussion?

You must be referring to a different post, Cerest made no comment on mine. You say I had my say and so did others, but that is exactly my point. Neither I nor others were allowed to have our say, the post was locked too quickly.

I think, Lucas, that if you really want an answer, you would be best served emailing your screenshots of the conversation to the customer service people. It's been stated already that the GMs will not comment directly on these kinds of issues, and nor would I expect them to. I would not be much impressed with a company that would respond publically and name names on an open forum *if* they thought they were exploiters, cheaters, whatever.

If you do have a concern with this, my suggestion would be to take it up with the people who can help you and not in an open forum where company protocol likely prohibits an official or meaningful reply.

Locking a thread that turns into a flaming pile of rants is OK, and is pretty much a standard policy for moderators on web forums. DELETING threads is very much NOT okay IMO, because it simply reeks of censorship. When a thread is deleted, there's no indication left over that it ever even existed. So, deleting threads looks like an effort from the administration to prevent newcomers from ever seeing that there is/was a problem.

The delete button is usually something I wouldn't want to see used unless someone was spamming the board with identical posts. And by spamming I mean SPAMMING.
