Any advice for a Tryker?

Post by ixontes »

I left the island last night but I had to go to bed so I did not play anymore. I believe I am a Tryker, but not 100% sure. I picked the little guy when I started. I don't know if I am reading this right but I am 11/20 in combat, and some other numbers like 4/20 in magic, 8/20 in harvest??? Anyhow, I am on mainland now.

Welcome to the mainland, little one. You are better prepared than I was when I left the refugee isle.

You may notice that the critters on mainland behave a bit different, they tend to defend each other.
Eventually you want to join a guild. Officers from guilds may approach you and there are several things you may want to know: faction, pvp/pve, roleplay, timezons. Of course, you can always quit a guild if it doesn't suit you.

I noticed on the island that it was like the critters wanted to defend each other but never attacked unless provoked.

The island wasn't bad at all, it gave me a chance to get to know my controls a little and see whats going on. I have left the island with a whopping $5K hehe. Hopefully I can start making some good money and getting some good stuff. I am in no rush. I am going to take my time and just enjoy the game.

On the mainland, we use the term "social" to refer to these types of mobs. A "social" mob is one that will add on if you are attacking a friend. Usually the add-on mob needs to be pretty close to the one you are fighting. This all varies based on the type of mob. Yubo's act like they're going to "add" or be social, but they really don't.

Bodocs, otoh, are definitely social. Want some fun? Ask a high level nuker to bomb nuke a close knit herd of bodocs. He'll probably kill the 5 or 6 he hits. But then about a dozen of their friends will come trotting over looking for a bit of payback.

Most things will not act "social" like this except within their species. For example, Kipees and Kizoar are both social and both kitins. But if you attack a kipee standing right next to a kizoar, the kizoar won't even blink. Attack a kizoar standing right next to another kizoar and you'll get a party.

In general, the concept of "social" isn't as relevent with agro mobs. If you are in their agro range, they'll attack regardless of whether you're attacking their friend or not. The one except to that seems to be the primitive tribs (gibbai, cutes and frahar). If I nuke one from a distance outside their normal agro range, others near him will come over to play.

That seems pretty cool.

I sure hated killing those Yubos though. They were so cute, and kind of gave a cute bark to me, and then I sliced it to pieces, heheh

I always waited until they piddled on me. Then I hacked 'em up for quiche.

Well, my first adventures of the real world started last night. I killed a few things, I then swam to some island and there was an NPC. It allowed me to target him. I thought, hmmm. After one quick attack, 3 seconds later I was choosing to respawn (hehe). That was a bad move.
