How are Outposts working here?

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

No to OutPost's, No to OutPost's.

Kids, just say no, OutPosts are bad and have caused more hard feelings ingame than anything else.

You seem to have a different problem than us.
On Aniro, the reason players don't dare leaving the alliance is that they fear to be outcasts and fear to endanger their faction. However war declarations are not the problem. There has been some OOC accusations (out of character) on a few declarations, but generally speaking it's perfectly ok between outposts owners to be in war. We keep it RP. The problem is that even if we declare all the wars we want, the situation doesn't change. We don't manage to take the outposts of the opposite alliance. Basically when we're fighting elsewhere than in our own territory, there's more motivation on defenders side than on attackers'. That's why we have all Karavan OP in Verdant Heights and Aeden Aqueous, and all Kamis OP in Ardent Desert and the Witherings.

So for some players, it may be a gameplay problem, OP being too difficult to take. But if your difficulty is to declare the war, then it's something else.

Personally I think that it's great that the community nice and all, but because of things like the peace treaty, we're taking the direction of "because we're nice players, our characters will behave nicely". And that is the good illustration :
No to OutPost's, No to OutPost's.

Kids, just say no, OutPosts are bad and have caused more hard feelings ingame than anything else.
The more you play your character close to your own feelings, the more difficulties you will have to stand back when your character is aggressed. But we are not kids, Ryzom is not designed as Carebears world. Nice players may play evil characters. That's called RP and nobody should take offense when my Matis agrees with a Zoraï to say Trykers should be slaves. I don't want to enslave any player. Just my character wants. If you /tell me, I'll laugh with you, help you, etc. And it works exactly the same with Outposts. My character buys all the craps the Karavan says and thinks Kamis are demons, but don't worry for me, I could play the other side without problem. And I think most players know that. Even if some neutral characters players think we are second-rank RPers because the two factions are a too simple vision... but whatever, the Kami/Karavan conflict is far from manicheism. It's not Black and White but rather Black and Black.

But not having cries about how unfair is to attack an OP that a guild owns since release doesn't help to take the OP... we're still stuck.
