I keep reading that you shouldn't leave the newbie island until you are at least level 30. Sorry about the noob question, but how do you get to level 30 on newbie island? When i look at the action progress bar it only goes up to 20.
Do you have to go to your trainer at level 20 and do something so you can go higher than level 20? If not the trainer, how do you get above 20?
Leaving Newbie Island too soon
Re: Leaving Newbie Island too soon
Past level 20, you begin to specialize. Just keep on fighting/casting magic, and eventually you will get to the next level(ranged or melee fighting, offensive or defensive magic).

There is a little " + " sign next to the various skills. press that with your mouse and you will see the 2 new speicalizations you can get experience in.undlaw wrote:I keep reading that you shouldn't leave the newbie island until you are at least level 30. Re: Leaving Newbie Island too soon
It is just my opinon but I think it is the conventional opinion that you should stay on newbie island that is wrong.
I came to the mainland with 20 in harvesting and 12 in fight and nothing else. I had no trouble at all advancing quickly from there in all 4 skill trees. I was also doing it solo. If you know even one person who is already on the mainland it is even easier.
Newbie land is a tutorial. It is not some essential step in character development.

Don't listen to the killjoys in noobland saying you should stay as long as possible. You can level on the mainland and the sooner you get there the sooner you can start the real learning and fun.

Re: Leaving Newbie Island too soon
I had plans to get to 30 in my two chosen specialties, and have nice Choice q20 gear before moving to mainland. Then I talked to a friend who made the move.
I left newbie island at 21/14 with 70,000 dappers from doing killtasks and selling mats.
I don't regret it. Soon as I arrived in Pyr, I found a merchant with some storebought q25 armor & sword and I still have some dappers in my purse. There is plenty of foraging sites and game to kill right outside the city gates. They are challenging and rewarding, not like being bored with killing newbie Kipees for 400 exps each.

Re: Leaving Newbie Island too soon
Most definately...Absolutely no reason to stay onf newb island past 20. Infact no reason to absolutely have "Choice" gear as well. Plenty of game and harvesting out the main gate.
Re: Leaving Newbie Island too soon
people that live in newbie island are funny. these are direct quotes taken from fyros and matis newbie island.
"you need at LEAST 700k for the mainland. you've gotta get a packer, an appartment, q100 armor..."
q100 armor has a con requirment of 90. if you make it to 90 con in newbie island... i'm impressed. raising 700k on newbie island will take about twice as long as it would on the mainland.
"you shouldn't leave until everything is 30+ and melee is 40."
getting to 40 fight in newbie island will take FOREVER! kipee will give you miniscule xp past 25 or so. getting 30 in harvest will take even longer. you'll be harvesting mats below your lvl for 10 lvls...
"i'm gonna stay until i can start my guild(1 million dapper)."
lol
---------------------------------------
don't stay on the island too long, it'll get boring. learning choice mat locations there is pretty pointless too, since you'll just have to learn new ones on the mainland. stay until you feel ready, then come join us on the mainland. where the big boys play

Re: Leaving Newbie Island too soon
I think for those who are completely new to the game should stay on newbie island till about fighting 35 or so. Can you survive mainland without it? Yes, but you really need to know your limitations, and being a newbie you really don't.
I do think that people go really overboard with the "Noooooooo you must stay in newbland forever!" thing, and it sucks because I don't see the people I was with, on mainland for ages...
