Pegasus Foundation is, as always, accepting new members. This post is intended to provide an introduction to our guild. The first part, the mission statement, is from the first part of our Charter and defines who we are as players. The second part, the principles statement, defines who we are as characters.
More detailed information about our charter and principles can be found at http://www.pegasus-foundation.com. Most of our members are from the U.S., but players from all timezones are welcome. It is our spirit that defines us, not our geographical location.
Mission Statement
Pegasus Foundation is a player guild originally started in the game Earth and Beyond in the Pegasus Galaxy. It has now expanded to multiple game platforms. Within Ryzom, it is a multi-race/level guild dedicated to 3 main principles:
1. To provide a group of players to help individuals enjoy their gaming experience. To be friends they can fight, adventure, and grow with.
2. To provide a family that large numbers of players can belong to, socialize with, and form a community with. To be an important part of the online Community providing help to members and non-members alike.
3. To be an important force in the game. To influence the story line and game changes affecting all players. To be the voice of players to programmers, developers, and marketers.
Principles
Most of the time, we are not a role-playing guild. But, where a role-playing position does exist, it is this:
1. We stand for the growth and prosperity of all homin civilizations. Racial unity is our best hope in living on this hostile planet and being able to defeat the Kitin menace.
2. Pegasus Foundation (in Ryzom) was originally founded by a group of Matis, but is open to all races and contains members of all races.
3. We believe all homins are equals and should work towards living in peace and harmony with each other. We believe in nurturing the qualities of the individual, and not just the group as a whole.
4. Our hope is that the current peace treaties between the four races can continue and grow. But, if war between the homins comes, our first priority will be the defense of the Matis and to a lesser degree the Tryker.
5. We will do missions designed to aid any of the 4 races and the various tribes of Atys without discrimination.
6. We reject the Kami and Karavan extremist's beliefs and actions. Those actions that pit homin against homin in unnecessary conflict do nothing to promote hominkind. Just as the Kami extremist stands against all Karavan related activity, we stand against extremism. Even though we will not engage in mindless violence against other homins, we will not stand by while our interests or the interests of our allies are violated; we will stand strong against all forms of extremism.
7. As homins develop the ability to build Outposts, we will build one that will allow us to better aid hominkind. We will defend that outpost rigorously as we will defend the outposts of our allies. Aggression against ourselves and our allies will not be tolerated.
8. We will not start a fight with other homins, but we will finish it. We fight only when needed, but when we do, we fight with honor and courage.
9. We call on other like-minded guilds to join us in defense of hominkind's common future together. Contact our leader, Shadarin, or one of our officers to discuss a mutual defense alliance.
10. We will not take missions that are designed to harm other homins that are not already in direct conflict with us. (bandit tribes are considered in direct conflict with hominkind as they attack any that come near them. NPC tribes will be considered in direct conflict with us if they attack us on sight or are considered an immediate threat by our leadership.)
11. We will respect the Kami's desire that specific areas not be over-harvested unless the need for those materials is extreme. If we do not have the materials to defend ourselves, then the natural balance of the planet will mean little to us. While we respect the general desire to manage the natural balance on Atys, we reject the Kami's aggressive means of enforcing that balance.
12. While we respect the need to walk carefully in the Prime Roots to avoid awakening anything new that might be a threat to our people, we reject the Karavan requirement to avoid the prime roots completely. The materials provided in the prime roots are too valuable to hominkind development.

Looks like Samsara is back in the propoganda business. When a guild has been attacked, I don't consider fighting back as starting a fight.aardnebb wrote:Is this a little out of date?

If you want to do something don't start a crap storm, do something in-game, show up to defend, help equip them, think of something besides what you are doing. Because everything PF has done is within the guidelines and intent of the game.

Oudknoei, in the thread about your forthcoming attack on AP you accuse them of hypocrisy.oldmess wrote: 3. We believe all homins are equals and should work towards living in peace and harmony with each other.

Read the above then tell me your attack doesn't tread the same path.

Re: Pegasus Foundation (intro / principles)
Or maybe he was looking for more information about PF and wanted to ask a honest question in public?
Sorry but we've never been propaganda pushers. So don't start that and jsut answer the guy's question.

Re: Pegasus Foundation (intro / principles)
Wow, the world of Atys has changed since June of 2005 when I first wrote this. Since then, we've been given something to fight for. PF has changed along with the changes. We do stand firmly with the Karavan. But, sure, hold me to my words from almost a year ago.
This original thread was mostly roleplay. I know a bunch of you think you are the bestest roleplayers ever and I suck at it, so I'm not doing it any more. I'm here to play a game. That game includes outpost battles.
I'm not going to revise this original, because at the time, we were taking a more neutral position on the Kara/Kami fight. And it was accurate at that time.
In a later thread (and I'm not in the mood to dig it up), I made it clear that we were taking a more active position in the conflict.
I was referring to current words and actions from less than a couple months ago. We were directly accused of greed by a guild that has (until this last week) held 2 OP's themselves.Oudknoei, in the thread about your forthcoming attack on AP you accuse them of hypocrisy.

Re: Pegasus Foundation (intro / principles)
Fair enough, thanks for clarifying.
Never easy keeping mission statements up to date, particularly when your guild completely changes their stance due to new game mechanics and such (or changing world events if it really has to be in RP mode - never been big on it myself ).
