Call to arms... Ryzom ... People

Post by kratos84 »

A number of players have notified me today that the Pegasus Foundation might have wanted to spread the words about their upcoming move:

Heavyn and I have discussed it based on all the great input y'all have given us. Atys Paladins' 250 OP (Woodburn Magic Pole) will be the target.

The attack period will start on Saturday April 15th at 8pm British Time, 3pm EDT, 2pm CDT, Noon PDT (7pm GMT). We'll rally at the Kara TP in Oflovak's Oasis.

We invite and welcome all Karavan support.

I know its on a holiday weekend, but I hope all of you who can do so will come We are attacking and helping Pegasus Foundation.
Although we haven't had any deep friendship to speak of, Atys Paladins has always thought of itself as being amicable to PF before. Just a few days ago I helped one of their new members while fame hunting in Matis, and PF has generally always returned our courtesy with friendly faces. So this really came to me as a shock that they have actually been secretly plotting to harm us in behind. Neither have we tried to do them any harm before, nor are they lacking access to any OP resources being already in the powerful Karavan Alliance, the planned declaration seems to suggest to me that PF is now looking to acquire more and more OPs for itself through open, unprovoked aggressions.

It would seem that the community is now in such a state where when given an opportunity or a convenient excuse, homins and guilds would readily show their darkest side and throw their beautifully written charter out of the window. Am I the only one who remembers that guilds on Atys used to be founded on principles? I remember that, even though it has long been established that bosses like Aen and Madakoo were to be freely contested by teams trying outdamaging one another, the respectable homins of the past would accept whoever being there first as legitimate hunters and restrain from sniping. There was even this time when, even though it has long been established that Lands of Umbra were to be an open PvP area, people would restrain from killing lone diggers, and that even though the supreme mats there were meant to be solely PvP contested, righteous homins of the past from guilds like LoA, OotN and CoM would fight alongside AP players against guilds that wanted the supernodes for their own. And we won, such that the supernodes could be open to all players again. Are those times past us... I certainly thought that might have been the case when I was told today that this has been posted on the Karavan Alliance forum:
Pero wrote: Topic title: Time to Dominate.

There were several minor reasons why I felt it was not yet time to finish of our opponents. Those reasons no longer exist.

My biggest concern was the least logical; I was worried about contributing to the cancellation of the game by chasing out account holders. While I knew that I couldn’t actually make a measurable difference one way or the other, on some emotional level, I just wanted to wait. Now that Nevrax has gotten an extension in order to show a profit and R2 is around the corner, it is time to stop coddling fellow account holders.

It is my belief that Nevrax never intended the faction wars to be balanced or they would have created more then 2 sides. How often do two evenly matched teams go to eternal overtime?

There is a reason there are 4 countries and two religions, eventually nationalistic interests will be incorporated into the game. The game’s political/conflict background will continually morph over time. We are most likely in the beginning of a change now, following this latest event.

I read the treaty as saying two things. “Present Leadership must stay in power at all costs” and “We don’t want anything to do with outpost squabbles”.

If Nevrax feels they need to restore balance the GM’s can spawn 100’s of level 999 Goo Warriors of Doom, have them led by one of the Kings and kick anybody out of any outpost. Balance and fairness is not our responsibility.

Jena is a Goddess of infinite mercy, we are not.

Let’s release the hounds.
Personally I am hoping that friend of mine who told me this has tricked me and that this is not true at all. Otherwise I would be really ashamed of myself to have held on to this game and hoped it would prosper for so long and even told others it has a very supportive community ... when such disgusting advocation of 'releasing the hounds' to finish and chase out other players lurks beneath the surface. I am not exaggerating at all when I say this kind of attitude has already driven entire guilds out of the game. It's just totally, completely sickening to learn there is such real greed and selfishness, ironically only on virtual assets in a dwindling game, that goes out of all competition roleplay and spirits and shows a complete lack of respect or concern to others ... I don't know what sensible comment can possibly be made out of this.

Atys Paladins started with two young homins who dreamed of contributing to the war against the kitins... we never tried to harm anyone or deny anyone any help, but somehow this is now a world where trouble knocks on our door with no end in sight. Help us in FF on Saturday ... who knows if this might be anyone's last fight. Regardless of your allegiance, I plead, indeed I supplicate, that you fight on our side against the invaders ... if we have helped you before and you believe help should be repaid by help. If you believe that players as homins somehow share a bond with one another and that collectively we are sophisticated enough to make our own decision against what we are fed ... if you have the heart to resist this organized tyranny that disguises itself in its own interpretation of the game as well as faction fanaticism in order to achieve its purposes ... if you don't want to become the apparatus of a few individuals who tell you we are supposed in every way to chase out one another... fight for us, and know that you will be doing something good.

In the end posting everything I was told might just do me harm... or draw more hateful attacks from those who would protect their cause, but I am pretty much too disturbed by everything I learned to be cautious right now. If anything this might raise awareness of just what kind of state this community has fallen to, when previously friendly people now only care to 'dominate.' The boys who fought monsters... have all become monsters themselves.

owning a outpost is like wearing a FvF tag. expect to be attacked without reason.

now... lot of discussion has been that ".. if only outpost would be played like it is meant to be...", you dont get GvG granted, but you do get half what it was meant to be... which is PvP, be happy for that.

good luck and much fun for both sides.

I guess the PvP debate will never end. One thing is for sure, PvP breeds caveman-like opinions and feelings between players. It brings the ability to apply pressure and ruin game experience by being a complete arse towards others. Check the forums for RF Online if you need proof - a sickening amount of people arguing about complete rubbish, which all boils down to them trying to gain superiority over others. Desperately looking for a way to raise themselves up the food chain, a chain in which their natural place is towards the bottom, obviously :)

OPs provide a limited but different interaction with Atys, one that has been desperately needed for a long time. Everyone wanted OPs, not just PvP fans - people hoped they would bring what was originally promised - NPCs doing interesting jobs for guilds, selling items as vendors etc. The original plan was to also include strong diplomatic mechanisms to avoid the need for PvP, if so inclined.

From what I understand, those plans never materialised. And in the end, what chance is there for diplomacy when your attackers have little respect, and probably the mental age of a 10 year old? :) Regardless of how you feel about PvP, it opens the door for the complete idiots, and it opens the door for not-so-complete idiots who just like ruining people's day. There are plenty of good PvP players, they just go about it in a way that doesn't make them evident to everyone else. In other words they avoid the stupid "you're on our KoS list" kind of arguments on the forum. When someone removes the 'Location:' info from under their avatar on the forums, that speaks volumes about their character, and how others feel about them. Or rather in that particular instance, it cemented an opinion I'd formed about the player 12 months ago, and it seems to reassert itself at every opportunity.

Ryzom has gone from a world full of caring, resepectful players who only wanted to help each other, to a world full of argumentitive, stressed out people forced to follow PvP mechanics to have any involvement in the game. It's gone from a world of exploration and discovery to a place where only declarations and faction matter. Empty is a good word for it :(

And my last comment - PvP is not the problem, it's the type of person that PvP generally attracts. The ability to ruin an experience through PvE is harder to achieve, which means the people who want to ruin it for others gravitate towards PvP without even thinking about it - it caters for the most primal instincts of humans, and for some players that's enough. I'd hoped to leave those players behind with RF Online, but it seems no place is safe. Even the community liaison for RF decided to 'give' the job to someone else, because the flak was so low-flying and bitter, and basically just retarded circular arguments that completely miss the original point, boiling down to personal insults and generalisation and running away into the sewers, where it belongs.

This community is a mere shadow of what existed 12 months ago, and even 12 months before that during beta. This community grew around the initial concept of the game, and as that concept moved towards PvP (which was always intended in some form), so the community started to fall apart. PvP isn't the only reason, but it's a large part of it.

Ever since the so called KA was created I have feared for others on Atys. Myself and Evolution have NEVER wanted to be a part of it and I know there are many others who feel the same. The selfishness and greed of the KA has already damaged this planet we all fell in love with and have lived in peace on for so long. For them to further dominate can only cause more harm.

It is no secret that Evolution do not like or totally support the extemists that are the KA. Though we are karavan aligned and follow the same path to glory through Jena this evil that now exists cannot be allowed to continue.

Evolution will support Atys Paladins !

I call upon all like minded individuals and guilds, who like me, have seen this evil menace grow, to stand beside us on the battlefield, if this declaration goes ahead.

This is not about faction anymore ((OP's never should have been anyway)).

History repeatedly shows us what damage extremists can do once they get enough zombie followers to think they are fighting for the same cause.

Be warned, it never ends. Once all the non KA OP's have fallen to this evil menace, those members that are not as extreme will become the next targets.

You do not have to be a lemming, you do not have to blindly follow. Like me, you have a choice. You can choose the true path to enlightenment, where you don't have to kill your fellow homin to get there. You can achieve greatness without the need for slaughter.

If any members of any of the KA Guilds wish to try walking a different path where another homins life actually means something then quit your guild and join another. There are many other guilds on Atys that will allow you to grow as YOU want to. Many, many of you jumped at the first guild invite, be strong, you don't have to blindly follow. You now know more of the evil intentions of your so called leaders, make your next decision with that knowledge fresh in your mind and if you still choose to follow that same evil path then I and my fellow, like minded homins will meet you on the battlefield.

Cant call this KA becuase it isnt, its primarily a Matis alliance choosing to hide behind Jena for support.

Would urge free thinking homins of all nations and Faiths to oppose these expansionist policys and take up arms while you can.

You have an outpost, outposts are supposed to be fought over for control. Theres always going to be guilds wanting your outpost, and usually guilds willing to assist them.

Its up to you to defend the outpost. This is a fair move imo, and I would expect nothing less if the tables were turned (which undoubtably they will be again someday).

*shameless offtopic*
uhh, what? You don't have any location info, I don't have any location info, lots of people don't. What's it got to do with anything? If anyone actually had a specific rl location in their location info, I'd be surprised

Yes, but by "specific" I meant house number and street name as well as town, 'county'/'state'/whatever and country.
