The row on keyboard with the backspace, gives these characters with just single keypress: ²&é"'(§è!çà)-
Same row with SHIFT is: ³1234567890°_
With AltGr on that row: |@#^{}
Then the four keys left of the huge enter button have: ^$ùµ
with shift: ¨*%£
with altgr: []´`
Then the key left of the W gives: <>\ (single, shift, altgr)
Right of the N key are ,;:= with ?./+ on shift and ~ on altgr

So actually most of them really are single keypress :)

Then, I have a question for you:
I have the following special characters on my keyboard here:
²³&|é@"#'(§^è!ç{à})°-_^¨[$*]ù%´µ£`<>\?,;.:/=+~€
Are there characters on those keyboards you are talking about that I don't have?

This is what I have displayed on my keyboard.

{}|;:',.<>"/]`~!@#$%^&*()-_=+[]{}\|;:',.<>"/?*

and this is typical for all 101 button Keyboards.

Hmm, just my two cents...

It may even be easier to switch your language (in the input locales tab in regional options, at least in Windows 2000) to Unites States International; all you have to do then is type a quotation mark and a normal i, and the ï is automatically created. No holding of alt and memorized number combinations needed.

Well its not a german Umlaut, we have the ö,ä,ü - thats enough :)

the double points on top of an "i" or an "e" are called "trema" or "diaeresis" and are used when the "i" or "e" stands next to another vowel (as in Zoraï), but the "ai" isnt supposed to be pronounced as a Diphthong - the two vowels are spoken as separate syllables. This is known (or rather: unknown, hehe) as "synaeresis". So the correct way to pronounce the name of our folk would be Zora-i

Gloife,
who doesnt have an "ï" on his german keyboard... unfortunately :)
