cancel acct. lose all after 90days?

Greetings all... enjoying game..
is this lose all after 90days a for sure thing?
The cancel screen says you lose characters and possibly your game key after 90days.. i ask you to reconsider this...you will lose return players if you dont.

If i may explain. I started EQ in mar99...game has expired as of Nov08-2004
I did not play the game the whole of that time frame. This last time i quit was my 5th time and my 3rd time that i "quit" for good vowing never to return.

I played Planetside when it first came out in may 2003..came back to game in may2004...played game all summer..it expires on Oct25

played Dark age of camelot when it released. played for 3 or so months.. went back to game after over a year away...since cancelled

Asherons Call i played when it first came out..played a few months.. went back to game over a year later and continued on for a few months...

see the pattern? .. except for Everquest.. if my characters poofed. it would not stop me from coming back to the game...the issue i have is the game key poofing.. if i knew i had to buy the game again. there is a slim chance i would consider trying game again. Especially these days with the two 1000LB gorillas looming on the horizon (EQ2 and WoW) plus many other up and coming mmog's....remove characters if you feel you must.(tho if i played game long enuf that i had a few high level characters..knowing they poof would keep me away) Maybe make it so any char above a certain level gets saved... please dont remove the game key

it's not true, it was removed after protests from the players, they just didn't get around to removing the message

Can somebody check if the message is still there or not?

I saw the message a few days ago when i cancelled. I just tried resubscribing and unsubscribing. There was no message this time. I think the message only comes up the first time you cancel. It was that message the prompted me to start this thread, i did see it. It would be easy for others to test. It actually very easy to cancel..then resub again. a click of a button is all it takes...so you wont lose anything by testing.

It would be nice if someone official comes in to put this to rest. What happens to a cancelled acct after 90days? The message i got says lose all characters and game key, if i want to play again i have to buy a new copy of game. I would hope this is not true and Nevrax does not kill game key. This will hurt game in the long run. As my history shows, i leave and come back to mmog several times..Losing char is bad but tolerable in some cases(high level char no) but having to buy game again..and in future this would also include any expansion packs? that is not tolerable and would keep me from coming back to the game.

This is why I really thought the information here was based on gossip. When it was followed by several ... QUIT in protest like posts ... I had it up to here.
Otherwise to the person who posted his genuine concerns, I definitely hear you and hope these bumps to your post will help in getting an official reply and calm all worries.

greetings..yes..not trying to cause trouble here. as i stated in first post, i play(ed) several mmog's ..i have quit and come back to game(s) several times with times away ranging from 2 months to over a year. I understand the policies of the other games that they "can" delete your characters after a set amount of time and do not guarantee your characters will be kept past that time..While it would be painful to lose a high level character i guess that is the chance you take if you quit game. The game developer has know way of knowing your intentions. You could have quit never to return or you could be coming back in xx amount of time. If they need the space the oldest cancelled characters get the axe..

What concerned me was the part of the cancel message that said not only do you lose (memory fails me now if they said MAY lose or will lose--makes a big difference i think ) your characters after 90days but you also lose the account key and if you want to play again after that time you have to purchase a new game box. Knowing my gaming habits there is a good chance i will be back to this game several times. But not if i have to rebuy the game each time. That is what i would like clarified and if true am asking Nevrax to reconsider it as it would hurt the future of the game imo.
