Need Help Please :)

I too am a SWG refugee and brand new to this game ..... I am having a few problems so I wanted to ask two questions (for now hehe) about the game mechanics. I am sorry for taking up forum space to do this, but not quite sure where else to turn.

I made a sap crystal of my fear spell then right clicked it (I am wearing those big gloves that the game starts you out with on my right hand) and my right hand weapon (gloves) shows that the enchantment is on them. My problem is that the icon for "Use Weapon Enchantment" is always "greyed" out or not able to be used. I am not sure how to fix this so that I can actually cast the fear from the enchantment. This alone would help tremendously so that I dont die as much lol.

Secondly, I am at a loss to find the place that you can teleport to the other cities on the starter isle. It looks like you would have to teleport to get to the other cities and I cant quite get where you do that at.

Anybody that could take a few minutes to help me, I would be greatly appreciative.

I also wanted to ask one other thing..... I am desperately trying to find a game "home" for me and have been going through lots of new games. This one seems the most promising. I am wondering about the soloability of this game. I have a 9 month old baby and have to run afk ALOT (hehe baby comes first) so I mostly solo so that I dont make people wait around. I am really trying to find a game where I dont get forced to PvP, has good PvE content and can be solo'd. I am a MMO Vetran but having a tough time finding a game to stick with right now.

You need to charge your weapon that is enchanted with sap crystals in order to be able to cast it. You can buy the create sap crystal spell from the magic trainer. Once you have created your crystals right click on one in your inventory and select "charge right hand" or similair (I cant remember the exact text).

To port to the mainland talk to the karavan (or kami) rep just outside the main town you started in. They will direct you to the teleporter npc. The Tryker one is just north east of Barkdale, about 150m out. You cant teleport to the other cities on the starter islands you have to run or die and respawn at them.

Once you get to the mainland you will find many other SWG refugees dotted about, someone seems to have set a trend somewhere (looks at Faa and grins)

As to solo play, that is quite easy. I myself played solo to quite high levels (150+) before joining up with a guild etc. I still used to team with other players at times but I was mostly solo. In order to achieve the higher levels in any of the fighting branches you will definately need to be in teams as it becomes very difficult to make progress on your own.

Thank you so much for your reply.... I think I did all that with the Sap Crystal.... I made one, then right clicked on it and it does show on my gloves that they are enchanted with Fear..... but it does not "light up" the icon for "Use Enchantment"..... so I dont understand what I am doing wrong there.... thank you so much for answering me though I really appreciate it

for the weapon enchantments you need to do 2 things:

1) right click on your fear spell for example and choose crystalise, then from your inventory right click on the crystal and enchant weapon (ensuring its equipped)

2) charge the weapon with sap crystals, this is a skill from the magic branch, make a bunch of crystals and recharge until full

assuming you have done this already check the sap load of the amps (right click and info) the total cost of the spell needs to be less than the total sap load of the weapon.

there are no teleports to other towns on the islands, you need to walk good way of telling if u are ready to come to mainland is to reach another town by sneaking there.

solo play, possible not ideal. You need to be very choosy about what mobs you go after and be prepared for a lot of downtime. If you hunt in popular area's friendly mages should be happy to heal you when they have a moment.

Solo is slower than team play, and you'll die more often. But Ryzom does not have any instances that takes 4 hours or more to finish. I would call Ryzom quite baby-friendly, and as the player base is a few years older than the average MMO most people understands that babies always comes first.

Also, for going AFK a lot you're probably better off in the Tryker lands. Going swimming usually makes you safe from everything, and there's a lot of water around in the Lakelands.

I believe you are using a set merchant amps, these cannot be loaded with sap crystals AFAIK.

There is a crystallized spell (yours was Fear), and there are sap crystals... each weapon has it's own "sap load" based on what it was made with. The sap load has to meet/exceed the amount of sap needed to cast the enchant. A number will appear on the weapon icon on your hands indicating the numbers of times you can cast your current enchant.

If you still have problems with the enchant, just ask around in region when you reach the mainland, I think there will be some players helpfull to answer your questions. (Or send a /tell to somebody who answered here, I think they don't mind helping you in the game...)
