Re: The Yrkanis Shielding Act
OK, no one was in the wrong. It would only take poor Fasinus 30 seconds to turn off his PvP tag and have happy crafting in Yrkanis.
We have made an RP item about the defense of our town and it's townsfolk. He really could have an easy time of it, but still chooses to provoke.

Re: The Yrkanis Shielding Act
(entirely OOC, sorry) I don't know man, it sure seems like a loophole if a person can be nuked by another player, healed by someone else who is essentially invulnerable and just lather/rinse/repeat. If you guys just wanted to duel, why didn't Fas turn off his pvp flag and make it a non-issue?lathan wrote:This will never be corrected, as it is entirely intended to be the case, that anyone can heal anyone else who's simply being ganked, as opposed to engaging in PvP. You were in the wrong. Suck it up.
I realize that many of you think this is just a bunch of Kara's that want to gank Kamis, but some of us are actually trying to incorporate some roleplay and meaning back into the pvp that Nevrax gave us and having an untouchable healer kinda spoils the immersion factor.
(note, I'm not accusing you of anything; it just seems like something wasn't thought out at the design level)
@Devs/Marjo - is this situation working as intended or is this a loophole y'all didn't think about? I would like to know what the official opinion is.

Re: The Yrkanis Shielding Act
And what of those that are not interested in your idea of role-play. It's not an untouchable healer if he/she is not fighting back. They are capable of PvE until they are in PvP mode, full out. Simple as that. And to me, it sure seems a heck of a lot like a gank fest. But do as you will, I'll heal whomever I can heal (on either side) without being in pvp mode.oldmess wrote:

I remember when PvP used to be fun...

Re: The Yrkanis Shielding Act
tagged player A nukes tagged player B, B does not act back. non tagged player C comes along and heals player B - player A is engaged in PvP, player B and C is not.oldmess wrote:@Devs/Marjo - is this situation working as intended or is this a loophole y'all didn't think about? IF player B tries to nuke/kick player A, then player C cant heal player B (or A) - player A and B is engaged in PvP, player C is not
Re: The Yrkanis Shielding Act
What of them? The Kara that engaged Fas were interested and Fas was interested (his flag was on and EVERYONE keeps telling me that if your flag is on you are INVITING an attack; therefore, he was by definition, interested).d29565 wrote:And what of those that are not interested in your idea of role-play.
Lath, who is not interest in PvP (his flag is off), healed him. IMO, that should have made him PvP tagged because he participated in a PvP fight.
If Fas had turned off his tag and we'd found some way to nuke him anyway, I might see your point. But, I don't.
Please don't take this personally. I'm not accusing Lath or you of anything. I'm stating that it seems to me like bad design to allow a healer to essentially get involved in a PvP fight and then not be PvP tagged. I understand that it only occurs if the person being healed didn't actually fight. It still seems like a loophole to me.

Re: The Yrkanis Shielding Act
Yes, I understand what the conditions for this are. Unless you're telling you speak for Nevrax now or this was meant to be a quote from them, that doesn't answer the question. It felt like a loophole to me when I experienced it. If it's not, so be it. But the question of whether it is or isn't was aimed at the powers that be.blaah wrote:tagged player A nukes tagged player B, B does not act back. non tagged player C comes along and heals player B - player A is engaged in PvP, player B and C is not.

I don't see how it's a loophole if player B isn't engaging in PvP. He's jsut being attacked, not attacking. ie not engaging in pvp.
(sorry completely ooc)
Re: The Yrkanis Shielding Act
So now I see that neutrals have a use after all, and maybe my (almost) Master of Life training can come in handy, for the right price. It would be unfair of me to only offer my services to the karavan to help clean up the town as I did, so maybe I should draw up the Yrkanis Shielding Shielding Act...

Re: The Yrkanis Shielding Act
And so is this, because this whole issue is OOC. There is no way to RP this because it's counter-intuitive. I can nuke homin A, homin B can heal him and he's immune to any retaliation. We can't even RP something like "please let me heal my friend and we'll withdraw peacefully because we don't have any choice in the matter". Later after we've given up out of frustration with the mechanics, homin A can gank a crafter and go home.kostika wrote:I don't see how it's a loophole if player B isn't engaging in PvP. If y'all believe this isn't a loophole, so be it. But it sure makes it difficult to integrate the mechanics of this PvP logic with the RP. Just wander around with a neutral healer all the time. If you're outnumbered, don't respond and let the neutral, invulnerable healer rez you afterwards. If you outnumber your opponents, have him stand back and you can enjoy your PvP fun.
Is that really what was intended?

Re: The Yrkanis Shielding Act
if someone is flagged just because he/she is attacked, then it might be impossible for him/her to turn off PvP flag as counter will reset (it was 10 min + 30 sec right ?)oldmess wrote:If y'all believe this isn't a loophole, so be it.
now, in the other hand, if taged (ganker) and non-taged (healer) will team and find a fool who is willing to go 1 on 1 with him/her and said fool dont pay attention to his/her HP/SAP and lets them dry out (that what said ganker is waiting), then said fool is getting what he/she deserves
