The hope with R2 is that it will allow us to "just play", to get back to the fun part of the ryzom experience.

I want both things, lvls and power and content that can be used in the whole Atys not just in some player areas. For that i would play just Neverwitnernights.

We all have probably installed a mod to enhance our gaming experience in one or several games. And the modding community's success is based on tools for players to just that, to create new stuff.

In PCGAMER (UK ed) March 2006, there is some focus on the future of gaming. The article "The rise of 'wikification', Player-generated content will change gaming, includes a comment on our Saga of Ryzom, p132-133.

"The emergence of wikification is changing the way developers think about their games. Saga of Ryzom executive producer Daniel Miller is introducing a new 'What you see is what you get' level editor into the MMO. Players are free to fashion fresh missions, guild halls, animations and stage productions and then share them from terminals within the game. Miller believes: "These games aren't [the developers'] games any more. They belong to our players. Once you give them a little bit, like an online world, you have to give them everything."

Let's hope the more able of our players can utilize these possibilities, and we all stand to gain from it :)
