i havent done any test eather on high lvl mobs, but iv tested with spear, pike, axe and daggers on noobland in openbeta. i took time for each kill and killed the same mob 10 times and counted the avrage.
daggers took aprox 1min, with the other weapons it took aprox 1.20-1.40 to kill that mob (puny ragus i think it was)...
if anyone care to do the same test with lvl80+ mobs be my guest.
and you have to take in action that daggers has a high hit rate and thus can stun/halt/slow/etc the mob more than something hitting slower, and can also perform more critical strikes etc etc...
use whatever makes you happy, daggers makes my happy so ill stick to it whatever anyone say ^^

There's a difference in double hitting your increased damage button 2x to have it cycle until you run out of stamina; and using your stamina a bit, reverting to normal till you regain a bit using reactive styles; work again on full stamina use.
diablo 2 and getting your top skill for example
Diablo 2 doesnt define as a game in my opinion... It's an advanced screen saver, mouse killer... stuff that moves on screen, you just click on it till it stops moving, when it stopped moving you click again to loot it, then you click away to move away till something appears to be moving, redo from scratch
You said yourself that you only use the standard melee attack, do you really think that is fun ?
What difference between basic attack and cycling increased damage? One eats stamina, the other doesnt but does less damage.
Yes theres not that many special attacks in this game (theres like 2...yay...) but using ID at least gives some variety, but i cant use ID with the daggers
There are other things that work better with daggers
It makes no sense that wielding a q50 pike i can do more dmg than q70
It made sense when I did more damage with QL20 daggers than a friend with a QL50 2 handed sword... my daggers where full choice crafted with high damage / hpm. Hitting maybe 12x between his actual (times where he did damage, not the swings with misses) hits for just half his damage per dagger... so that's still 1.5-3x more damage in the end accounting for dagger missing the target.
Now about ID, I don't think it's a decent attack for one reason: you're dual wielding, you rarely reach the 2x damage of ID in comparison to debuffing the opponent's dodge, going through his armor, or aiming the head for stuns on critical hits... and your stamina goes away at the same rate, when I use ID it's only with a dodge credit which comes with its own problem: you need to have the aggro to dodge anything...
