Jewel Crafting Questions

Post by lhilger »

I've searched the boards and cannot find any real specific information on jewel crafting so I thought I'd start a post.

My questions are:

1. Is there any stone other than amber? That's all I've seen so far

2. What am I doing wrong? I'm doing my combines and coming up with an item with a stat on it, but the stat is 0%. I assume I'm missing something obvious ;-)

3. Is there a list of what items when combined give you what stat?

4. With each pattern costing 100 points, what is the suggested order of obtaining the patterns?

I realize some of this is pretty subjective, and hope to open some discussion on jewel crafting so I can gleen some information without having to post ANOTHER post of newbie-esque questions ;-) Help a fellow crafter out! Any hints, tips, success stories or failures (so I know what to avoid) would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

If you have learned the skill to add say 5 focus to an earing and you are not getting the stat, edit the action that you use to make jewelry and add the option for the stat increase.

1. Yes Yubo eyes and other quartered parts.

2. Assuming your talking about the resistance stat I think this is a bug and has been reported at least once as such.

3. Not that i'm aware of.

On the newbie island, no. On the main island, there are a whole different bunch of ambers that have different characteristics for spell casting...some are good at healing, others at nuking, others at affliction. You learn as a crafter which ones people want pretty quick.

2. What am I doing wrong? I'm doing my combines and coming up with an item with a stat on it, but the stat is 0%. I assume I'm missing something obvious ;-)

Are you talking about the resistance stat or the bonus stanzas? I think you're talking about the former - resistance stat varies by material and oftentimes will in fact be zero. Bonus stanza as someone else stated is easier, just add it to the action on the skill bar.

3. Is there a list of what items when combined give you what stat?

Nope, wish there was.

4. With each pattern costing 100 points, what is the suggested order of obtaining the patterns?

Obviously you get earrings first. Then...what I would suggest is hold off until you find out what missions the apprentice overseers do on the main island. You can get a ton of bucks and good exp doing their missions. I just took amulet the other day simply to run the two missions available and would not have done so - you can sell more 2 sets than 1 set pieces - had it not been for that. Other than that, do em when you can but I don't think there's a locked in order, except for again trying to get the 2 piece sets before the 1 piece sets.

In response to (4), if you have no other preference for which patterns to get first I would say, go for diadem as your first one as that takes the most number of materials and hence gives the most amount of xp per combine thus increasing the rate at which you skill up (assuming you have the cash to use store-bought mats).

Only addressing the first question. You won't find any other "stones." The world of Atys is a purely organic realm. There is no metal or stone in existence. Everything is crafted from living matter. Amber is petrified tree sap, which there is an abundance of. You can also use eyeballs, which is somewhat strange, for your jewels and magic foci. An overdose of vitamin C could also produce another type of "stone" but I'm not certain I would like to wear that set in a ring.

Safe travels!

In regards to number 3 ... the only stat you will get for combining is the one you have edited into the action itself. Edit in HP and you will get a hp bonus for that item. 10 at 20 and 25 at 50 off the top of the head.

Daidem is the king for most xp as someone else noted. Realize also that you can probably make more xp sticking to ql 10 store mats with your dapper up to lvl 50 than any other. I know you get more xp for making a ql 20 item but the dapper to xp is a bit low when compared to making ql 10.

#1 you can use any type of eye or amber for the jewel requirement.
(btw usinuk you can find yubo eyes on the newbie island. only good for grinding at q6 but you can still find them)

#2 I talked to a GM and so far the resistances on jewelry have not been implemented yet. You will never get higher than 0% at the moment.

#3 See #2

#4 there is no set pattern but as someone else noted Diadem is the best pattern to get for grinding the rest of the tree. If you are grinding slower and selling your stuff I would recommend the Bracelet pattern. It is a paired item and uses 6 mats so it gets the best experience of all the paired items. But as usinuk said (and I agree) go with whatever the mission givers on the mainland are asking for, that way you can make some decent money while crafting.
