Karavan are always masked and no-one knows what they look like beneath their armour "Karavan is composed of mysterious anthropoid beings in black suits and helmets that cover their entire heads"
so you pays your dappers and takes your chances..
The Kami are after a world where everyone has their place, and stays in it, all part of the great whole ( same thing as the Matis, actually, explains why they dont get along
). I dont think I have seen a reasonable explanation of what the Karavan are after, but it is generally agreed they are interested in resources.
