Nooooooo, don't mess wif my sysinfo!

Personally I use the user tab almost exclusively.. I changed the colors from default for easier quick id of whats what so I can read all 4 chats on the fly. I also like being able to hit a tab and quickly read all of one type (eg guild) without having to mess with filters. I dislike all the room that spliting all the windows takes up... and then the user chat just gets in the way. I DO run at an above normal rez (1600x1200), but I like to leave room for a few hundred tell windows :P

Re the sysinfo.. I have that detached 100% of the time, and 90% of the time I'm reading it before my chat windows, sysinfo is absolutly critical to my game play as it is currently.. taking that information out of the sysinfo is gonna ruin it for a lotta people who like to read what different things do/cause. It will completely eliminate the calculating that I like about the game.

Not at all, the sysinfo window won't disappear. :) By default, it will appear in the Chat window, but you can separate it and use it just like now, by right-clicking on its tab.
marct wrote: am not sure changing my default channel to the last I used is a good thing. I usually chat primarily in a channel and just wish to throw something into another channel randomly.

So if I type:
/s Hiya everyone
/y Noin is alive!!!
yup, been a few days

The last bit would get shouted. hmmm, maybe think about this one a bit more.
No it won't behave that way. What will change is only what the button is displaying. Currently it's buggy, I'll use an example.
Your default Chat is Region. You switch to Around by simply using the command /say. Now your texts will appear in Around, but the button keeps showing " Region".
The new version will simply correct this, so that when you switch channel using /say, the button will display "Around" instead of "Region".

So basically, in the new version, the "yup, been a few days" in your example will appear in your default Chat and not shouted, just like now. :)
marct wrote:Don't change my keys, only new players keys!
Your own configuration won't change. The 5. (default interface) will only affect players who will start playing after the interface patch (or also affect a new character you would create).
kurita wrote:if i recall it right, the changes of one-key hotkeys free W,A,S,D, am i right?(not shure atm)
could u bind them as secondary movement keys? that would make the live of some much easier
Exact; W, A, S, D are free in this new version. :) And no, it is not possible to have secondary movement keys.
seawe wrote:Please Leave all the chats having there own tabs too! if they're all put in one tab it'll just be a mad house trying to keep up with conversations.. and it's no help at all if when we're focusing on around chat, so have to 'queit' region from the channel and then can't go back into a region tab to see whats been going on...
We will add an option in the Chat window allowing to make them reappear in the window for those who prefer to see them.
kostika wrote:The chat changes are just confusing. I personally HATE the user channel. I have it detached and hidden so I don't have to look at it or use it. I like having my channels seperate.
You will still be able to position your Chat windows that way with the new system.
kostika wrote:Also don't change shout to /y. That just doesn't make sense. Leave it as /sh. The rest are fine, but /sh just makes more sense.
After a little discussion about it, we have decided to keep the 2-letters commands. So, unlike annouced in the document, /gu, /sh, /re, /te will still work.
kostika wrote:Leave the K key as the key that bring up the keys window. Taking this away unless you map it makes zero sense. Mapping keys or trying to find a hotkey is something that I still do alot. The K key makes perfect sense to use for me and especially for newbies.
With the new windows bar, the keys window will be more easily accessible than now (look for "touches" on that picture - sorry for the french here), so we don't think that removing this key is too much of an issue.
kostika wrote:The hotkeys you've turned to N/A by default, make sure to leave those in the key list in case people want to map them. Some of the things you've turned to N/A some people may still want to map keys for.
They will remain in the keys list. We don't plan to remove them; we just want to delete many of the 1-keys shortcuts, to avoid having too many windows popping up by mistake.

Now I have to find something to eat, I'm hungry. :D

And will it still contain all the same info it does now?

I think that's the main issue/worry people have with the change - that they're losing their history of info. If what you're saying is that it will just be hidden by default but still contain the same info then that's cool. I'll just turn it back on. Like many, I have mine seperate from the other windows. :D

So if I separate the System Window out the way I have it now, will I get duplicate information in the window and on the screen? An example is the way it works with crafting now, I get the same info twice, and it would be nice if the info were only in the System Window when it was separated out.

Yes it will, excepted for the MotD.

The changes on that window are:
- its position by default (this will affect everyone when patching the interface).
- the MotD that will appear in Around only.

And I add here the answers to 2 quetions I forgot earlier:
oldmess wrote:Can it be a smart 10 most common list? i.e. change what's in the list for me based on what emotes I actually use? Or is it just going to be a hard-coded list?
It's hard-coded only. Your idea is a good one but could probably not be done on time for the "release" of this new version.
marct wrote:tooltip showing keypress for window. Will it show a re-mapped key, or just the default?
These tooltips will show the re-mapped key for the window, not just the default.

shadowweb wrote:We are currently working on the game interface to make it handier. We want to clarify the features which are specific to Ryzom and need more explanation, and make the interface easier to grasp for new players.

Nothing will change regarding the graphics.

See here for more details.

as a new player, the interface took a little getting use to, but it's part of the fun of learning a new game. PLEASE be careful on how much "easier" you make this game to understand. SWG attempted to make their game "easier" to understand, and it led to an incredible dumbing down of the entire system. right now i LOVE the complexity of everything here you guys have created a very inspiring world.

can you make it so the tool tip on the action bar moves around with the cursor as it does in the inventory.. i have a hard time sometimes looking at my pointer and the tool tip at the same time.. not too hard finding the right action when actions look different but if you have lots of actions that all look the same and you are continually swaping them about it can be hard.

you used to things like it is now and are afraid of change. perfectly natural :-)
well.. i tried to move my hands bar to bottom-middle from top-middle... in first fight i almost died lol. hands bar is back in top-middle ;-)

anyway... unless they totally screw things up, we get used to these changes and laugh about the worries we once had.

bring it.
