As a newcomer, I'm very disappointed.

Post by ttussok »

This game has more frustration than fun it seems. The training grounds were fun enough, but upon getting to fairhaven, life becomes very difficult. Invisible walls are everywhere, and you can't travel anywhere to save your life. Just trying to get from fairhaven to crystabell was a massive chore, most of the islands didn't have beaches, and the ones I did find with beaches, I ended up dying on because while safety the water was 3 feet away from me, there was yet another INVISIBLE WALL, so instead of just being able to jump into the water, I'm running against nothing while a giant crab is killing me.

Not to mention the fact that there is barely anyone in the game to talk to. People hardly ever talk in regional chat, and the only people in town are NPCs just walking around aimlessly.

Please, tell me there's hope! I'd be so happy if I was just doing something wrong. Is there a good way to find teams in this game? is there an easier way to travel? Is there a fix on the horizon for all the invisible walls? And finally, how many people actually play this game? I have no clue if there were only 50 or 500 people online when I was playing.

A few comments. First, the lakelands are my least favorite continent, mostly because of all the swimming and islands with limited spots where you can get on and off. I'd recommend trying one or two of the other races or getting someone to help you relocate to one of the other continents, though there are people who claim to like the lakes ( :p ) so maybe one of them could show you around and get you more comfortable there.

There are actually quite a few people playing, but since the world is broken up into many regions and there is no global chat you can't really tell how many are on. Usually there are people around the capital regions, but it can happen that everyone is off somewhere else. If the time you posted is any indication of when you were online, then you probably ran into a couple of factors. One is that there is a high percentage of European players, and many of them would have gone to bed by that time. There are still plenty of North Americans, but Atys is noticably less populated after European bedtime. The other factor is that the seasons just changed so a lot of people would have been off digging supreme materials or hunting bosses.

the lakelands take some getting used to. I've been playing a while, and yesterday spent about an hour swimming round and round a lake trying to find the way to fairhaven oO

dont dispair though, Trker is the only race that lives in an aquatic enviroment try one of the other's if you'r not enjoying it. (matis is the most populated but i wouldnt be able to recommend the Jena worship that goes with them :p )

The invisible wall you hit when you try to jump into water after running from a monster is annoying. You must disengage combat to flee into water, as you can't fight/swim at the same time. I'm sure most Trykers have some macro made to flee efficiently.
