Re: Production: Interface Improvements
I want to keep my horizontal icons!
The system info is very useful, and allows me to scroll back to see how much dp I have, how much I'm hitting for, etc etc.

Re: Production: Interface Improvements
Mostly I don't have a problem with any of these changes.. except for the chat changes. One of the reasons I like the Ryzom interface is the chat system, it allows me to keep different conversations separate, and to not confuse myself, but also to keep track of things going on in the user tab.
hmmm.. it is dificult to say how these changes will affect this, whichout covering it in ridiculous detail, but it is still a little bit concerning, as it seems to be making the chat more like a certain very popular game, and I hope that is not what the developers have in mind, as I think Ryzom's chat interface is better.

Re: Production: Interface Improvements
ditto on the System window!! please leave it, its so very nice to have as a history referance.
Please Leave all the chats having there own tabs too! if they're all put in one tab it'll just be a mad house trying to keep up with conversations.. and it's no help at all if when we're focusing on around chat, so have to 'queit' region from the channel and then can't go back into a region tab to see whats been going on...
I'd say just add to whats already here, Don't take away! ;o_o;
a hot key to flip through the chats would be nice
and i too liked the emotes w/ left click. I don't want to have to go down to the chat window to use them all the time...

Re: Production: Interface Improvements
what i wished to improve my interface:
the slash / is on the keyboards in my language on shift+7.
this is a pretty bad place, first you have to hit 2 keys that can't be further away and so it's even faster to use both hands. second, the 7 is in the middle of somewhere on the keyboard and not easy to find without looking on the keyboard
it would be very usefull if under 'k' keys there was an option 'start chat command' (ok that's how it was called in my previous game ) which i can freely assign to such a completly useless key like the windows key. this command would then enter chat mode, type a slash / and leave the curser | behind it, so that i only have to write g, r and then the text i want to speak.
i hope you understand what i mean. the chatline would after hitting this command look like this: >/|

Re: Production: Interface Improvements
Sys info is the primary means of keeping track of what is happening in game for me, as with I believe many others, and I would hate to see it change.
The chat window changes are equally perplexing. It would seem to me that addition of chat channels, including custom ones, rather than removal, is what we need.

On that line, one aspect of the gameplay some players enjoy (including myself) is thinking about the game mechanics, how resists work, probability of dodging, attack speed, etc. Removing these messages from the Sys Info window where we can scroll back and check will make things harder, and bugs like dagger speed could be harder to track. This change would be, to some extent, like removing the numerical xp message you get and get back to the "You gain xp in" that we used to have...

Re: Production: Interface Improvements
The chat changes are jsut confusing. I personally HATE the user channel. I have it detached and hidden so I don't have to look at it or use it. I like having my channels seperate.
Also don't change shout to /y. That jsut doesn't make sense. Leave it as /sh. The rest are fine, but /sh jsut makes more sense.
Sys Info isn't broken. Whenever I'm fighting, be it magic or melee, I use my sys info alot. I even have it seperated from my other windows so I can see it easily. It's used to see how well I'm hitting, what kind of dmg I'm doing, if this new weapon is doing the crits it's supposed to do. That kinda thing. No, the Sys Info window changes will not be helpful. And really I miss those pop-up messages we already have now anyhow, adding more won't help.
Something that could be fixed with chats.
When you're typing in any chat window or tell, if a new tell opens or an old one closes, you're taken out of your current typing. This is the biggest cause for me of your UI windows getting screwed up and hitting hotkeys that closes/opens them. Leave it so that if a new tell opens or old one closes that you remain in your typing mode.
On the subject of hotkeys.
Leave the K key as the key that bring up the keys window. Taking this away unless you map it makes zero sense. Mapping keys or trying to find a hotkey is something that I still do alot. The K key makes perfect sense to use for me and especially for newbies.
The hotkeys you've turned to N/A by default, make sure to leave those in the key list in case people want to map them. Some of the things you've turned to N/A some people may still want to map keys for.
Think that's it for me.

Re: Production: Interface Improvements
They don't seem to be saying that they will remove all that familiar information from the Sys Info window, just that some of it will ALSO appear in-scene so that you may not have to have your Sys Info window open all the time. Fine, I have Sys Info window on a hotkey so I just flash it up on screen when I want to check something, then hide it again. What I dislike about information displayed this way, in flying text for example, is that it makes a game less immersive. Physical clues in the virtual world, like the weapon/pick lightwakes, are far better because what they indicate is not explicit. Immersion is what makes SoR stand out more than anything else, in my opinion. So please make sure these in-scene Sys Info messages can be turned on and off, and make them OFF by default!3. Texts of the System Info window
We wish to reduce the use of the System Info window. To do so, all the important information feedbacks will become directly visible in the scene. The window will then mainly be used as a fighting log and will not be open all the time.
Coloured text in entry field - great- When we write in a Chat channel, the colour of the keyboarded text becomes the same as the colour of the channel .....
- When the filters are applied in the User Chat, the filtered tabs or windows are not displayed any longer (Around, Region, Team, Guild).
Removing the tabs/windows - no, no, no, no, please no. Having the tabs there and turning orange when there's some text that I might have missed in all the excitement is really valuable.
The new Windows bar looks like a dramatic improvement, far more user friendly than the old one. But you've made the smallest new icon mode bigger than the one we already have. I'd rather it was smaller. Edit: I take it back, it is smaller, sorry. Wonderful Just goes to show how many of the buttons I use on the existing panel (4).
