Try using the 71.89 video drivers
- They are very stable and seem to work best with the older GF 4 cards

Repatch
- delete the UNPACK folder and repatch the game DLLs

You may have sound issues
- Disable sound for now

Lower the settings
- Disable the advanced graphics options in the 'Display advanced' section of the out of game configuration

You can always start raising the settings once you get in game and stable

You problems could also be heat related
- You may want to think about better cooling for your video

You may have RAM issues.
- Get a copy of memtest86 and check things out

I have disabled the sound, the advanced graphics options and i hav lower the graphics settings and i has done nothin.

I hav no idea how to run memtest86, and if i changed the drivers i would have to changed them everytime that my brother wants to play CS:S

You can get a copy of memtest86 at http://www.memtest86.com

All the instructions are there and it is open source and free to use.

BTW, have you checked your video card fans to make sure that they are running smoothly? And have you tried to use the 71.89 drivers just to see if they work better than the 77.77?

Each game is designed around it' own drivers/chipset man... because it's best for CS:S only means it's best for that... might be worth a try with the other drivers. You only have to revert back if the problem remains.

That may mean that you have corrupted UI config files. Which isn't surprising if you have been crashing.

Try renaming the SAVE folder and run the game again. Plus run the 'check data' agaion for good measure.

thats not what i ment, i ment that when i run CS:S with the old drivers it asks for me to update them which is trouble some as i would hav to do it every day to shut my brother up as he plays CS:S instead of ryzom for some weird reason
