1. Do the different races ahve diff base stats? IE is one more suited for Mage, and another for warrior?
2. Can i drop skills i take now, and a week later realise they suck?
3.How do the diff combat skills work, i was clicking some attacks that i got when i created a fighter, like Shield, and one that guarenteed me more damage, and one that guarentted me more hits, but how do i know they are working.
4. How do i display my FPS?
5. Is their an online manual? I bought the french one from alapage.com but am not as fluent reading french as i thought. I would like an english manual if possible.
Just got the game, some questions
Re: Just got the game, some questions
I haven't actually compared but since the player is in charge of making the char evolve (by deciding which stats, if any, to improve when spending skill points), I would think that all races are pretty much equivalent. It's up to you whether to make your char stronger or smarter or more focused.Nirvy wrote:1. Do the different races ahve diff base stats? IE is one more suited for Mage, and another for warrior?
It doesn't quite work like that. What you do is buy "building blocks" (stanzas) with your skill points. Some blocks are simple blocks while others are more complex actions made of multiple blocks. If you don't like a premade action you bought, what you can do is simply mix and match all those building blocks you acquired (you can reuse those you learned with your more complex actions) to make new actions that fit your playstyle better.2. Don't like the heal spell you got? Create a new one. For instance, more powerful but costs more sap or costs 0 sap but very slow to cast or costs some of your life to give to others or ... These are just made up examples but I think you get the idea. So there is no stanza surrendering (that I know of) as what you are buying is not only 1 stanza but the ability to reuse its components to make new actions you like.
If you see them appear in your action bar under your char info window, they are correctly invoked. As for how much effect they have, I guess you have to compare damage / accuracy / ... with and without using them to judge for yourself.3.How do the diff combat skills work, i was clicking some attacks that i got when i created a fighter, like Shield, and one that guarenteed me more damage, and one that guarentted me more hits, but how do i know they are working.
Right now you don't. There is a network info window though. Hit "K" to check your key mappings.4. How do i display my FPS?
I hope this helps and I got it right.
Re: Just got the game, some questions
Nope. All races have the same stats. Crafting skills, on the other hand, are race specific. Each race makes unique weapons and armor.Nirvy wrote:1. Do the different races ahve diff base stats? IE is one more suited for Mage, and another for warrior?.
Nope. Skills choices are final.Nirvy wrote:2. Can i drop skills i take now, and a week later realise they suck?.
The most important attack is Damage. It doubles the damage of your weapon if used correctly. Always use a damage level equivalent to the quality of your melee weapon.Nirvy wrote:3.How do the diff combat skills work, i was clicking some attacks that i got when i created a fighter, like Shield, and one that guarenteed me more damage, and one that guarentted me more hits, but how do i know they are working..
Other combat skills work with particular weapon types. Bleeding with slashing weapons. Slow with smashing weapons. Ignore armor with piercing weapons.
Open the game settings window and click on graphics. FPS will show in the top right of that window.Nirvy wrote:4. How do i display my FPS?.
Yes. It is on the Ryzom.com home page. Here is the link.Nirvy wrote:5. Is their an online manual? I bought the french one from alapage.com but am not as fluent reading french as i thought. I would like an english manual if possible.

Re: Just got the game, some questions
Right click on any action in your action bar and choose edit. You will see that the action is composed of individual stanzas.Nirvy wrote:Thanks ill have a read through the manual.

Re: Just got the game, some questions
The problem here is that there exists not a small amount of abilities/stanzas/spells which plain out suck. No matter how you build them.It doesn't quite work like that. What you do is buy "building blocks" (stanzas) with your skill points. Some blocks are simple blocks while others are more complex actions made of multiple blocks. If you don't like a premade action you bought, what you can do is simply mix and match all those building blocks you acquired (you can reuse those you learned with your more complex actions) to make new actions that fit your playstyle better.
