After reading and posting in the economy thread i'm curious to see how people really feel about an IG auction system and if it would be worth the effort from Nevrax to create one.
there are 4 options:
1) I like the idea of open auctions
2) I like the ida of both open auctions and faction auctions at temples
3) I think auctions are a bad idea
4) I have access to whatever i want and don't care
poll to see how community feels about IG auctions
Re: poll to see how community feels about IG auctions
Voted in favour of auctions but have to say one 'condition'.
That they give us an auction channel to do the auction in.

Re: poll to see how community feels about IG auctions
I like the idea of integrating auctions into the game itself. Not everyone reads the forums and this would create a larger audience for that.
Instead of creating simple faction auctions, why not create an open auction system where the person putting the item up can create an "ignore list" of sorts for their auctions?
What I'm picturing is a system where I can put an item up with minimums, reserves, ending date, etc. and then I can define a list of people I don't want to even see this auction. That list can be a person's name, a guild's name or an entire faction (including "neutral") or race.
The IG system should verify and reserve the funds that you've bid, so you can't overbid in anyway.
This would allow you to roleplay your sales anyway you wish. For a Karavan fanatic, he could block the entire Kami faction. For a more neutral guild, they could block by guild those guilds that had opposed them regardless of faction. Or you could just block someone that has caused you problems in the past.
Let the setting be personal to each homin. Everything I put up on this system would inherit the same settings.

Re: poll to see how community feels about IG auctions
No position in the poll suits my opinion.
Auctions would just cause as much problem as the current system. Unless you have the "Entire" community aware and available, you are only pricing the item in the end at the price which is bearable to those currently available to view the auction. This in effect limits the population available, and does not give a true market value.
You would need to have something that is available to all, which would mean that the auction would need an extended time period and need some game mechanic to facilitate it.
Don't we pretty much have that with the vendors?
Noin.

We don't have that with vendors..at a vendor there is a set price take it or leave it, and any auction system would need an extended time frame...say from 1-5 RL days...that would defenatly set a true market valuemarct wrote:No position in the poll suits my opinion.

As for the entire community being aware, if there were an auction system..i'm sure any player looking for something would check it quite often.
we would still need the vendors to sell to for dappers and could even sell to player from them, but an auction for top notch gear would set values and really be a fun mechanic in the game i'm sure everyone would embrace
Imagine the fun of dropping one of those kool new amps with 112% stats for a 5 day auction and watch people dig like mad to bid 100's of millions of dappers on it

It can also be a good way to put supreme mats on the market..those are i'm sure mostley hoarded, but if the price is right i'm sure also someone will be willing to sell them, and an auction is the perfect way to set prices on them. thats a perfect way for hunters to make dappers..after a nice boss hunt, head on over to the auction NPC
so i guess i'm saying it would make digging/crafting a little funner and more rewarding, and gives hunters who don't want to dig/craft a way of making more dappers to afford better gear...also give people who may not know who the good crafters are or belong to a guild with unlimited resources a chance at getting nice stuff.
I can't think of a better way to stimulate the economy..and it would work for all level players, so it could be a good selling point for the game to keep/attract new players
plus after only 4 hours being up its 32-5 in favor of it..seems something people want
