trouble with the installer

Post by ceylous »

I've downloaded the installer 3 times and every time I've gotten an error message after I double click the installer. It runs though the percentage bar but not even halfway through it I get this message "read error". I have cable modem and during all 3 times there was no breakup or cancellation of the download. The last 2 times I downloaded the installer I would just let it run and not do anything else. Takes about 45 mins download the installer. I've setup with the trial account. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
Oh and also here are my system specs

1.3 ghz celeron
512mb pc133 ram
128mb GeForce 4000mx
winxp home edition
5.43 gigs freespace

here are a list of my programs that I have running after I reboot my computer

nvsvc32.exe
realsched.exe
jusched.exe
rundll32.exe
explorer.exe
taskmgr.exe
spoolsv.exe
svchost.exe
svchost.exe
svchost.exe
svchost.exe
lsass.exe
services.exe
winlogin.exe
csrss.exe
smss.exe
System
System Idle Process

Here are some other things about my computer.

I dont run a firewall
I'm not running antivirus software
I've got no viruses and my computer is running fine
I have have installed the latest video card drivers
I have installed directx 9.0c
I have full admin rights to my machine

please help this game looks VERY VERY COOL and would love to play it. Also has anyone else had this problem before if so have u solved it yet?

You may want to try downloading via Bit Torrent as per the Downloading FAQ

Your system is on the very low end of things for Ryzom, so make sure to go into game configuration before launching and lower the settings to minimum.

ty for the quick reply. Since my system is on the low end I guess I wont bother with it then. I dont wanna have it lagging all over the place. Also about bit-torrent. I downloaded it but it said I needed my own website/server or something. Oh well im getting a new computer next month. I'll just cancel the membership now and reactivate it later. Is there a one time charge and a monthly subscription or just a monthly subscription?

again TY FOR THE QUICK RESPONSE :)

There is only a monthly subscription fee and welcome back when you get your new computer :)

Also sounds like your file might be corrupt... The problem many have had in the past is that when the file is 99% done, your virus scanner grabs it and you assume it's done and don't let the scanner finish.

A file as big as the Ryzom install takes awhile to scan... might be good to disable your scanner as you get close to downloading the complete file.

He stated he's not running anti-virus. The file could still be corrupted (good call on that) but it wouldn't be because of anti-virus scanner.

Another thing that caught my eye is the freespace. When Ryzom is expanded, it takes up 5 GB easily! I wonder if it's just hard drive grinding down to 0 space?
