Reacquainting Myself, A Few Questions Please

Post by eschiava »

Greetings,

I have been back playing SoR for a little while now after a long absence, and there are some things that I know have changed and others that I perhaps have forgotten. I hope someone can take a few minutes to explain a couple of basics to me. If there is a "guide to SoR basics around, a link to that would be helpful as well. And, thanks in advance!

The "Con" System: I know this was much different when I played earlier, but now, when I target a mob I see a 1x, 2x, 3x, or whatever on my target display. I know this has to do with the power of the target, but what does it mean?

Malus: I don't remember if malus was around when I was or not, but I am seeing a malus icon when I use a melee weapon. What is that indicating?

Bleed: Didn't bleed used to work with piercing weapons? I would have sworn that bleed worked with dual daggers when I played before, but the descriptions says you have to have slashing weapons.

Weapon Equips: Can I dual wield a sword (primary) and dagger (secondary)?

I will likely have other questions later, but these are the ones most on my mind at the moment. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

Right click on it and look at Help...it actually does explain it. :p

Daggers are slashing, I think.

Yes.

Daggers are piercing. Swords are slashing. Bleed is for slashing only. So, if you double-equip sword/dagger, you can use bleed because of the sword. But if you use just daggers, no bleed allowed.

Daggers are piercing weapons.

Malus means you actions will get hampered or get a penalty incured on. Most of the time this relates as an increased cost of credits you use than normal to power an action. Daggers have a malus of +10, 1h weapons +30 (no?) and 2h weapons +50. The severity of the malus means a serious increase of use or draining of these credits when for instance casting a spell while having said item equiped. (shortened range, longer casting time, more hp/sap/stam use and decreased power in the case of spells) Same goes for the malus on medium and heavy armor.

Equip the sword first, then the dagger and you can dual wield :)
