Visiting other areas

Post by deweyz »

I'm new so forgive the newbie question but here goes:

I see alot of people saying they've switched races cause they didnt like the desert or other type of area. Ive also seen people complain about certain races not having ebough things to harvest. So Can you not travel to other races areas?? Why does your starting area matter if you can travel to other areas to level or prospect?

Just curious why this concerns people. Is it hard to travel between lands? or impossible?

Thanks,

It's possible; if you look at threads on this board, people have done it. It's just REALLY REALLY SCARY HARD. Supposedly people have capped their death penalties trying to get through. o.o

Ah. Well that makes sense then. I guess i better get use to just looking at Trykers for a while then =)

I'm surprised they made it that hard to travel to other areas. Is it easier to travel after you leveled some?

I think they make it hard to travel on purpose. I think I would get bored if I could see the whole world without much trouble. This way when I do get to another area, I'll be excited about it and won't just ask, "ok, what's next?". I like the sense of accomplishment I get when finishing big tasks in this game. If they were easy, it just wouldn't be as fun.

Most of those people who did it, did so before the increased Kitin patrols and guards. Which IMO represents a distinct and unfair advantage to those of us who got there first.

Something does need to be done to even it out and make it more possible for those who weren't either lucky or part of the largest raiding orgs.

People are still sneaking through but the challenge is even greater than before when travelling the Roots. That being said TBCo fought their way across Bounty Beaches, through the Trench of Trials and into the Witherings. Then they and a group from Comitatus Praetorian made their way back to Fairhaven. Travel is still very possible but solo travel is not for the faint of heart.

Okay ... not much of an RPer per se but I'll take a stab at some of this ...

We as different races are just now emerging from the dark ages of Atys ... no true civilization or strength is here. Pretty much the cave man coming back from the caves after being nuked into nothing at some point in the past.

The Kitin who overwhelmed the land are still present but not in the areas of the city as we spread our realm of influence into the world. Some people have been moving back and forth and into the areas of the prime roots. This is the area where the original Fyros patrol went to awaken the Kitin years ago and as a result the Kitin are reemerging ... these areas just happen ( hehe yeah right) to coincide with the boundaries between the lands.

I think its good that its difficult to travel to other races' land. Otherwise there is little reason for having different races since the skill trees are pretty much the same right now. There's a certain sense that this is "our" land, and that any other race you see there is an intruder. It matches the racial conflict alluded to in the available lore.

And it does seem to be possible to travel inbetween by forming large groups just as real caravan's did earlier in history. It also encourages communities/guilds which seems to be big emphasis for Nevrax.
