Yes just you , everyone else has the Title that goes along with having all the Craft starts and is pointing and laughing behind your back !!!
Just buy em with Forage points once youve cleared those Trainers out , youl end up with about 6k spare sp (especialy if you wasted precious Craft points on things like Focus...)

Re: Coupla questions Mage and Melee
Im not sure of what you are saying there, probably me having a blonde moment
When I started Ryzom, I was melee and mage (or vice versa), I always had acid from the very beginning and built it up to 7 with the "explosion icon".
I have just returned after a years absence and saw it as it was available as a "bag/droplet icon" and I bought it inadvertantly, thinking it was an enhancement for my spell (I had forgotten the "explosion icon" building blocks, I had already purchased "back in the day".
Personally I dont think such a thing should be offered like that (ie, in two different forms, back a couple of years ago some of us had a similar confusuion of one of the heal spells. Anyway I can well afford the 10 points in mage as there is nothing left for me to buy really from my current levels (OFF. ELE. of 78 and heal 118) until I think level 85 when I get another acid upgrade (jeesus I'm fed up with acid at this stage!, I think we should have Fire electricity from the start!).
Thank you for the advice though

Re: Coupla questions Mage and Melee
i dont think i can explain it any better, but it doesnt matter what version of things you train.
if you learn the upgrades then u just get the actual spell upgrade, if you learn acid 7 or whatever then u will get the spell upgrade and any credits listed in the description of it.
so u cant waste points. get an upgrade and u will see the cost of acid 7 reduce, same if u have some of the credits involved it will cost less than the stated cost. things arent there in duplicate so u cant buy the same thing twice.
clear... as mud

I bought them with magic points long ago, since I had nothing else to spent those on anymore. If I recall correctly it was also possible to just get tryker/fyros/zorai/matis armor crafting 1 for 10 crafting skill points, but I'd rather spent 50 magic than 10 crafting skill points myselfscarazi wrote:derailing a bit, but is it just me that is still yet to buy tryker/fyros/zoari/matis crafting start 50sp each![]()
Re: Coupla questions Mage and Melee
Yup... I'm an aspiring armorer, and I bought all racial craft starts with magic SP... Of course when you're a weaponsmith (like scar is) you most likely only have the armor craft action for whatever race you are, thus the other races still have their crafting start available. And no, the armor craft 1 always costs 25 craft SP or 50 fight/forage/magic, as far as I can remember.sidusar wrote:I bought them with magic points long ago, since I had nothing else to spent those on anymore. Yes Rushin, I understand what you were saying
Thanks for taking the time to explain more clearly
As you seem to be very knowledgable regarding the spells, may I ask some more in depth questions ?
I have been using Acid 7 constantly now for 70+ levels, I also have Cold Dmg to level 7, Both do the same damage level, is there a point to having them both? Eg. are there some mobs that resist one or the other, I haven't found any yet, but I've only been as far as Fourways yet
I sort of hoped the Cold would "Slow" mobs, so I could pound them with Acid as the trundled slowly towards me, but this unfortunately is not the case.
I hoped then to use Cold Drain, in a similar way, insofar as it would do a DoT effect as they trundled towards me, but it is resisted, more often than my Acid, so it is, IMO, a wasted attack opportunity as the Acid has a more consistant "To Hit Ratio" (This is only an opinion and the way it appears to me
Thanks for any help

Re: Coupla questions Mage and Melee
In my opinion the damage over time spells are a waste of sp...
They may be good if you got them to a higher lvl... but I dont know of anyone personally who uses them.
As for the cold / acid question..
Som mobs are more resistant to certain types of ele attack..
For example rot is brilliant against plants... but rubbish against everything else.
Try using acid on a kipee and you will wind up on your ass... where as a spot of cold ahnihilates the buggers.
For some mobs acid and cold will do the same damage.
It's All about experimentation..
You will get the racial spells at 125 and the experiment starts all over again

Xeraphim beat me to it
general rule of thumb soft things (lumpers, meks, etc) more vulnerable to acid, armored foes (kitin) cold, and rot for plants. some mobs have very high magic resistances to everything (timari for example) and if u are a similar or lower level to them probably best to grab a weapon.
Things have changed quite a bit from when i was an aspiring mage but i didnt bother with rot until i was past level 100 - sp can be in short supply, same with DoT's; they can be good but u can probably find better things to train for now.
grab all the range credits though - after the initial attack it's good practice to be using max range credits in your actions as the mob will be in your face/fast approaching your face
