Hi all forum and Ryzom addicts...
I just started playing on the 10th and still on newbie island. My boyfriend (irl) and I started looking for a new MMORPG to play because we have been with our old one for almost 2 years and need a change. I won't mention the old one out of respect although its not your normal MMORPG, its more of just a 3d community world that you help create (no monster killing).
We are really enjoying ourselves so far. Still on the free trial but it looks as though we will be extending our stay.
We are both Trykers. His name is Kavad (Kah-vawd) and I'm Krysalyss (chris-a-liss). I look forward to meeting all of you when we are tp'd to the mainland. From what I've read so far (previous forum junkie from another forum btw) is that this place is full of helpful players. I really like that and believe me, if I have a question I will definitely ask. As of right now though, Kavad is a veteran when it comes to MMORPG and has been easily able to figure out things on his own through research and experience. Then he helps me, yay! Don't get me wrong though, we don't have the attitude that we know it all so we don't need any help.
Now I'm going to get all girly, I really have to say that I love the way the Trykers look. My female character is sooooooo cute. She's got purple pigtails and I got matching purple boots already to match her hair hehe. I'm always blowing romantic kisses at Kavad, lol. Anyways, I probably went from cool to uncool with that, but I'm just so happy to be here and really excited to play. See you all soon on the mainland.

Nah, there's plenty other people going "awwwww so cuuuute" and such
Welcome to Atys, enjoy your stay on newbie island and please, come over to mainland asap. Once you have the hang of how the basics work, there's nothing keeping you in that desolate place. Hop over to the mainland, and you'll find the world is bigger and better than the little corner you've seen untill now. And, as everyone always says, if you have a question, let it out, and someone will answer it

Welcome to Atys. Although its a good idea to level some melee and magic in Noob Island, you will find more help in the mainland. There are more Homins about that you can team with and level faster. Come on over and see the real game. BTW, there will be a Trek from Fairhaiven to the other Cities this weekend - I hope to see you and your hubby there . And, yes!! Do not shy away from posting on the forums.

Re: Newbie to Ryzom :)
Thank you all for the warm welcome. Kavad has left me and went to the mainland. I've got a peek at what it will be like hehe. He really likes it except for all the invites to guilds. He just wants to become aquainted with this new world before venturing off into a guild. Plus, we both don't want to join Just any guild. We would like to study and see what they are about. Is this normal? Or does it even matter?
Also, I've read the forum rules. Definitely much stricter than I'm use to. However, I feel I can abide by the rules safely hehe. With 2000+ post from another moderated forum with no warnings, I think I'll do just fine.
Off to play some more.

I never worry about "normal". But, yeah it matters. How well you fit into your guild and your guild fits you will dramatically affect the quality of your experience. When I'm talking to a new player about joining, I always direct them to our website first to get a feel for the flavor of our guild and it's rules/goals/people/etc. (See my sig below) Team with a few of the guild's members first and get a feel for them.krazya2u wrote: Plus, we both don't want to join Just any guild. Fairly normal. Personally I believe joining a guild helps you experience the game more/better, if it's the right guild (which is where not wanting to join just any guild comes in, I suppose ). That's how it was for me...though I accepted the first invite I got and it just happened to be the right one.Plus, we both don't want to join Just any guild. Once you want to start looking for one, I suggest this thread:

A lot of guilds, most quite friendly I'm sure. If you're looking for a roleplaying guild, that narrows it down a bit.
Now I'm curious, I used to be part of one like that, and still am kind of (Ryzom keeps me busy though, so not much). Hmm...is it the one with "residents" or the one with a prevalent Tiki theme?I won't mention the old one out of respect although its not your normal MMORPG, its more of just a 3d community world that you help create (no monster killing).

The one with residents. I'm not sure how many have residents...but the one I play definitely has residents and $L (another hint).
Re: Newbie to Ryzom :)
You guys have a good plan... I would suspect any guild that sends you an unsolicited invitation and have said this many times. You should choose your guild after much thought as your choices affect greatly your experience on Atys.krazya2u wrote: He really likes it except for all the invites to guilds. You're starting off well, you guys have a good look around and then you choose the guild that best suits your playing style, IG beliefs as well as your sense of fun and adventure.
