Zorai light armour?

Is that (even nominally) effective for a soloist trying to raise skill in the magic tree?

Unfortunately I don't know. When I was pre-100 it was before these changes so I did it in light armour and it was rather difficult.

My suggestion to you. Get a healer of similiar lvl to you and go hunting. Wear the medium armour. It'll help you in case you get hit and you'll have someone to make up for the small malus. If you do go solo, then you might experiment with mixing light and med armour. Maybe medium on chest and legs, light everywhere else. You'll have a little less malus than full medium and a little more protection than just wearing light will give you.

That's what I'm doing now, with just one medium BP. (Fyros medium armor is purdy - the BP is stylin'!) I might add another piece or two and try it out, as you suggest.

You can. Any player can wear any armor. As a player enters the world, the player is immediately eligible to wear QL10 heavy armor. Players generally use heavy armor when levelling-up fighting skills, like melee.

i use mostly medium armor for both my magic and melee
both around lvl 70 and its going OK

soloing takes long so try to team altough in beginning lvls may seem hard for ele as not much low healers around

medium armour is better than light armour just mine opionion though choose what u like
