Correct, the NPC boss armours are still banned, also the event rewards from the temple building event are also banned.

This includes the Shields, skirts etc.

Also in reference to the events being held on Saturdays, I shall try to spread them a little in future for you all.

If we're going to start banning the temple event items, I suggest we do that for ALL event items. None of the event daggers, amps, or axes from events before the Temple event.

It's impossible to ban those items since they look like crafted items. You can't ask to check either, since it can be highly possible that someone has two axes (etc) and just shows you the player crafted one. That's not even taking into account the amount of time it would take to check.

The other items can be easily spoted. If someone is using them, it's easy to know.

I realize that enforcing it would be a real problem. However, I feel that its a tad unfair to ban things like the FvF event items or the NPC armors, but allow other event items. Those who have not played the game as long weren't able to get the event axe, amp or daggers, and so sets them at a disadvantage.

After all, one of the reasons for removing the Aen armors was because older sets had a much higher parry (+7 isntead of +4). So the "older" event stuff should be banned, just as the new stuff is. that or they could just allow all event stuff, including the Temple event stuff, since most of us got at least enough points to buy some of the new stuff, such as the casters or shields. It just doesn't follow the standard they set with the NPC armors of attempting to level the playing field for all fighters to then turn around and give one side a boost (an axe or dagger that strikes quickly can be countered with a shield that parries more. Take the shield away, you give a boost to the people with the event axe or dagger)

I'm not for the allowance of the NPC armors. I think the fact that they were banned was a good thing since it forces players to actually use HA, isntead of the "uber" drops that can only be obtained throught large, high level groups. If you don't have acess to those groups, which could be due to a number of different reasons, it doesn't mean you're any less of a warrior. Plus half of the NPCs are no longer in the game, so my argument to the past event stuff applies here too.

I just think a uniform rule has to be set. You can't allow past event items that newer players never stood a chance of getting (and which can easily sway the battle in their favor) yet ban the newer event stuff which the majority of the people took part in. Its either a complete leveling of the playing field (something they claimed for the banning of NPC armors) by banning all npc armors and ALL event items, or the bans around event stuff should be lifted. Personally, I'm against allowing the NPC armors, but for allowing the event items, be they old or new.

Actually, I do, so no, you're wrong. Both NPC armors and a couple of the event items. I just think its stupid to ban the new stuff, but allow the old, specially when the last event was has so recently come to close.

Morgaine, as strange as it may seem coming from your Karavan enemy, you always present well thought out, valid points. It makes perfect sense that either all sorts of special items are allowed or none are allowed at all. Personally, I don't think there should be any limitations on what participants use in the arena. I don't have any NPC armor or event weapons, though I do have a few Karavan dresses and a shield, but if I did have less common equipment, I would be pretty ticked off for having to leave them on the packer during a Gladiator event.

In regards to those who do have these items, I can't see at all why they should not be able to use them. Faction items, event items, and NPC items are all legitimate fighting tools. Most folks who have them have earned them and should be able to use them to prove they have what it takes to slay Spiff.

PS: I will be participating tomorrow. Hope to see you all there. :)

It's a double edged sword (which infortunatly they are not commiting to in either direction by allowing some and not others) Spiffy...

You dont allow them, you balance the field a bit yes... But the type of folks that would ignore the rules and use them anyhow since they are hard to detect will be out there.

You allow them, and you restrict the newer folks who might have a chance to give a sporting battle. We all want these things to be as inclusive as possible (but please, not more shout outs for the "Biggest Loser" of the tourney) to make them more fun.

I learn a bit more and have fun during any tournament fight, win or lose. After each one I typically have a couple folks help me test new tactics... It should always evolve and make us better... but it must always be fun.

They need to commit to ALL OR NOTHING on the event/NPC stuff though, and then find a way to police it... I have both setups ready to go to be ready in either case :P
