Mobility M6?

Post by stilleon »

I have a notebook computer with an ATI Mobility Radeon M6 chip set. Is this compatible with Ryzom?

Thank you

It should, but don't expect to use high or even medium detail on anything. Your game will be played to the lowest.

Thanks. I really don't want to invest in a new computer. I'min it for story, not looks anyway. See you in Ryzom! :)

Be careful...

ATI radeon mobility cards are extremely difficult to tweak to work with Ryzom:
(I have a IBM X.31 with a Radeon Mobility Y M6)

a) ATI does not release drivers for these cards (newer drivers even refuse to install), for it is assumed that it is the laptop manufacturer who releases them (which makes sense, since the cards may also be adapted for the particular laptop)

b) Manufacturers drivers are usually waaay out of date (Ryzom even prompts you asking for a driver update but see a) )

c) These cards usually have 16 MB, not sure if shared with main RAM. this is not even the minimum requirements....

I have read someone posting success with minimum settings and disabling shaders and so on, but ...

Some web sites may tech you how to override newer catalyst drivers to force installation on your laptop. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, since it may cause damage to your board. It is not advised....

So, my recommendation (as I would also like to play SoR on my laptop but...) stick with a nice PC to play Ryzom... A laptop with such a card is not supposed to play games :p

Best Regards,

Anissa
