Can't create a window display

I've downloaded the client but whenever I try to run it it says "Can't create a window display (1024 X 768 32 bit)"

First of all make sure your windows desktop is set to at least those settings (right click on desktop -> properties -> settings).
If it already is set to at least that, then your graphics card may be the problem; what gfx card are you using?
Are you using a laptop? Many integrated laptop cards (eg most of the intel "extreme" ones) are simply not powerful enough to run the game

I suggest you pop into klients and talk in real time to one of the CSRs if you have any more troubles or questions.

Try running ryzom_configuration_rd.exe in the directory you installed into. In there change drom DirectX to OpenGL or vice versa from where you are currently. Your graphics card should really help you decide this. I had a bunch of problems with this initially. I believe there are several posts here if we search. I'll look in a minute.
