An idea to help the economy!
Re: An idea to help the economy!
I think the upcoming changes in fame which will have city guards attacking enemy factionists will make the economy more faction based and address these concerns. However, whether the system is by guards shooting or clicking on box that says only Karavaneers or Kamists can buy, smugglers will have an easy job. It would be very simple to have your friend or alt in the other faction buy these goods and smuggle them across factional lines. Unless you can identify and ok each buyer, ultimately you have no control on who eventually uses your crafts.

Re: An idea to help the economy!
As others have noted, a major problem with the economy is the imbalance in the money supply - there are billions and billions of dappers out there, and very little of real value to spend it on. This could be solved, to an extent, by having an NPC merchant that would sell truly luxury goods at truly luxury prices. Things like the 2x xp catalyzers... or even introduce ultra 4x xp catalyzers. Offer exclusive items in both appearance and boosts, along the lines of the kami/kara skirts. How about a cool looking amp that had 110% boosts down the line for 500M? I know I'd buy one.
The point being - give people a tangible motivation to make cash, and you'll see more people selling more mats and more finished products. I think it would add a nice boost to the overall enthusiasm level in the game. This would also give the people who don't care for PvP a non-violent alternative to outposts, as a means of obtaining extraordinary equipment.

Re: An idea to help the economy!
The problem with making luxury goods is that you would exclude all but the most hard-core players. Also if you don't harvest or craft you are much less likely to have large amounts of dapper. I have played for over a year and know I have not made any where near 500M.
I my self could use more dapper then I have, if you feel you have too much I'll take some.

True, the most expensive items in a shop like that would only be available to a few. That very exclusivity is part of the appeal of luxury goods. But that's not a problem of this concept, it's essentially the point of it. The richest players in the game are typically the hard core harvesters and crafters, who have been providing goods on the merchants that people wanted to buy. Give them something nifty to spend all those dappers on, and they'll be more motivated to sell attractive "normal" merchandise to the rest of the player base. That seems like a win-win situation to me, with the people who put the most into the economy getting the most out of it. And why shouldn't they?forever wrote:The problem with making luxury goods is that you would exclude all but the most hard-core players. Re: An idea to help the economy!
yeps. i make a million times more money selling to npc than to players. To have a market where most are not putting stuff for sale to make money but rather to help new players/create illusion of economy/feel bad the markets are so empty and try to do bit to help/show off/etc (delete as appropriate) is not great.keoni wrote:True, the most expensive items in a shop like that would only be available to a few. give us something to buy, or take away selling to npc (radical but probably would help a lot of things), or let us trade dapper for honor points

I have suggested several things in the past, what you said is in line with my point of "unrealistic demand from the NPCs". One possible solution I proposed is the implementation of per player/per race/per faction/global/what's best/per item/ notion of "Kami tolerance" to affect the rate at which NPCs buy stuff.
