I just downloaded the trial and am gonna see how this game feels.. I noticed there are some PvP changes coming up and thats what basically led me to even consider trying it.
My question is what kind of PvP action is in right now that would enable me to test how combat is?

PvP in large scale is (has happened) in events only atm.
there is PvP and FvF zones/areas tho.. and arena in Matis.

but you need to understand that you _should_ be 250 in melee and magic (ele) to be successful in PvP. lower lvl's are possible but only against same lvl.

edit: forgot to add... EQUIPMENT plays 99% role in PvP

I'm only level 202 Elemental and 151 Fight, wearing just choice equipment, and I'm 8th place on EP2 Fight HoF...
Btw, soon there will be the outpost PvP, it's extremely fun to play with

not exactly true, i've been in very successful teams with a whole range of levels from 150-250, and anything after the lv185 upgrades u have a chance 1 on 1 if ur lucky with aura's etc . Saying that at lower levels you are going to be restricted to healing mostly as you do need to be 150+ to hit the high level players

it also depends what guild ur in, some guild go for the pvp others really hate it, personly i like the large pvp battles when each single player on the zone goes for it. i remember some epic battles

take a chill pill, i was pointing out that you dont have to be maxed to enjoy PvP which if i was to read your post i would assume was the case. And I pointed it out because you are keen to let everyone know u hate PvP so you may not have been aware that its this way.

I was never really bothered with pvp until the recent annoucment on Outposts. Was stalled at lvl 51 melee and 46 Off Magic until this week.

Nice guildies and a few random team ups have resulted in lots of lvls and loads of nice sp's

Get yourself into the game, meet some like minded people and get some levels. You'll be a killing machine in no time!

Of course, take some time to explore and relax in Atys too!

And I pointed it out because you are keen to let everyone know u hate PvP so you may not have been aware that its this way.

.. and that opinion has blinded you. i always let others have fun, even if it means i need to stay away from some hunts/events.
and my diplomatic skills sux, so i say how things are and do not try to paint pretty picture around it.

in Ryzom PvP, wins who has higher lvl toys and better gear.
you cant bet on luck (not reliably anyway).
and i do speak about group PvP.

when one wants to test PvP in his 7 day trial, then PvP is same as fighting a yubo...
... but on events (and future global FvF) to win (only a few enjoys losing), you need to be high lvl with better gear than your "enemies". (again, group PvP). ofcourse you need to be organised.
