take your time, no need to hurry there, so far the only characters that were deleted were 3 month-old sub-30 characters and it was announced in the forums previously. i've seen people log in with chars that were 9 months and older.

i'm hoping the devs are looking at these posts seriously (and that they forget the name kuroari.. *a little intimitaded by the thread he started) and take the time to do what the players want. i know its like saying we're bieng a little selfish - cause when you buy a non-mmorpg, you dont get to decide whats in the game - u play for what it does have and deal with what it doest - but ryzom is SUPPOSED to be based on player wants/needs.

keep posting ppl, maybe we should change it from 'wats keepin ya' to 'wats on your mind?' - just no flaming plz?

I think this is why I like having two characters (Keena and Yojimb), it keeps me from burning out on one or the other. These are two very different alts with two different racial backgrounds (Fyros and Zorai, respectively), they belong to two different, fine guilds and have each made some wonderful friends while enjoying the Atys environment. Each gets killed as much as the other. It's a beautiful thing!

I get the impression that some people play the same char for months on end and that has to get tedious sometimes (especially as much as some people seem to play, myself included). I wonder if it would be beneficial for everyone to start up a fresh alt from time to time, just to see how they can alter their experience?

I'm sure that's not a solution for everyone but maybe it might help a few?

And I want to say, I've been noticing a reasonable number of people *returning* to Ryzom after significant absences and that seems to be beneficial as well. I guess it's like burning out on work or not taking a vacation for too long. Every once in a while, you need a change or a break...or you break!

But seriously, this looks like just the thread that will turn into another flaming battle. We had enough of that already, let us not do it another time.

Be careful guys, it's going to be getting there soon, and thanks for trying (I know it's hard) to keep it from getting there.

For my positive spin:

One of the main reasons I like this game is the conflict. Even if it's the neutrals telling me what I'm doing is wrong, it's still a conflict. One of the things I'm hoping happens in the development of the neutral stance is that they will still matter. I don't want neutral to be neutral and left out of what's happening. I want neutral/hominist players to have a place in the events. Maybe goals for the Kami/Karavan and neutral/hominists. I don't want them to just sit in the middle without an opinion muddling about. I like the way some play it, like Jyudas who is actively contesting the war, he's raising as much of a stir oposing it as I do fueling it. I'd like to see a third hominist faction, not just people who boycott the two existing ones. I still want to be able to have the neutrals have an effect on the war, even if it's against what i believe. I welcome them and respect their positions. (OOC of course )

I originally played from retail to Jan 2005. Finally reinstalled the game and renewed my sub in October. Was glad to see that Drookie stills lives!

Some times its just nice to take some time out and do something else for a while.....

They used to be only annoyances, because the citizens of Atys were just that, citizens. In every post about "What I Like Most" the community was always listed first. Now, with being force-fed PvP, that is pretty much destroyed. Repeatedly killing eachother leading to a divided community? Whoda thunk it?

Oh yeah, we did.

And then they have the gall to publish a post that they really do listen, honest. Ms. Mulligan makes it sound like it has just come to their attention that a segment of the population wants no part of PvP, when that is what we have been saying for months.

The new denizen (not citizen) of Atys is a very different creature from those that joined in a struggle against a common foe, and to rebuild a lost civilization. A direct quote from a ganker standing over the corpses of Baxter and another digger, burned into my memory; "I don like dig/craft. I just like running around shooting stuff." Not other people, not Homins, not even an OOC other players. "Stuff". That is the new denizen of Atys, that is who Neverax wants playing this game. They may say different, but actions speak louder than words.

With the possibly irreperable destruction of the community, the deficits in the game mechanics loom much larger, and there is no reason to continue playing, and paying for, Ryzom.

Hi all, I'm a complete noob, just over a week. My wife and I are refugees from Star Wars Galaxies.

First this was a great post. I hope the powers that be are listening.

I wanted to say that SWG had many of the same support problems and bugs that you are complaining about and Sony can't say that they're a small company.

They also started pushing PvP and in their latest incarnation they want to increase participation in the Galactic Civil War. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the occassional duel and one character was a Rebel NCO but that's not why I played.

I'm telling you all this because I wanted you to know that we picked Ryzom as our replacement because we are mainly interested in exploring the world and building community.

Not all the new players are combat machines interested in blasting their fellow players.

We're just getting started and I hope we can work with the rest of you as we get more experience
