To agree or to disagree.

Post by hans1976 »

Okee, weird new ban-from-forums policy pulled me back to make a few posts on the forums, also this one.

As it seems now people get banned for being a big pile of steaming sauerkraut. How is it possible regular but disappointed posters *can still post*? Posting Jyudas' ban was really a very silly move.

Which moves me to the second part. Disagreeing with Xavier and / or his actions will get you banned from the forums. You could ask Scarazi, but he got banned for disagreeing out loud. Can someone please explain in a nice way how we ever can give constructive critism if we have the +3 burning sword of Bah-Nin hovering over our heads?

I dont think this is so much about agreeing or disagreeing, about destructive or constructive critism. I think this is to silence the group that has a strong opinion and is not afraid to use the tools given to them to voice that opinion.

Maybe that could be a nice question. Can someone please point out where in the EULA it says that having an opinion that differs from Nevrax and it's empoyees is a reason to (patially) deny customers the services they subscribed to? Please?

I go away for 1 day and things seem to have gone to "whichever abode of condemned souls your religion supports"! :(

Ok I have come to this 'debate' late, so apologies if I repeat anything.

I cannot believe that Nevrax would ban someone for expressing an opinion here. Jyudas has expressed his long and loud, I don't dispute that. Isn't that because he CARES about the way the game is going? I have seen plenty of constructive suggestions/opinions from Jyudas and others about PvP in general and EP2 in particular. What have I seen from pro-PvP people? The majority of posts in favour have been along the lines of "it's here, get over it" or "don't go into the PvP zone if you don't like it." Hardly 'constructive'.

If we're talking about personal attacks, isn't calling people trolls being personal/insulting?

How come some other people haven't been banned?

Example:

There was another example I was going to give that merited a ban IMHO, but that thread has now been deleted. Culprit hasn't been banned yet.

Smacks of double standards, or worse Nevrax targetting a particular group of dissenters because Nevrax don't like criticism of their game. :(

Next you'll be banning anyone with a skull avatar!

As stated there http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showpost.php ... stcount=66 :

- When a new flaming/trolling post appears, I look at the history of the account, to see if this is a reccurrent behavior or not;
- If it isn't, I just issue a warning by email;
- If it is, or if a warning has been ignored, the forum access is suspended.

And :

Don't misunderstand me though. This is NOT meant to stop you from giving your real thoughts or from stating that something is bad if that's what you think. We rely on these comments to improve our work. But they have to be written in a constructive and courteous way.
