Trolls and flaming

well this is interesting, and welcome.

I'm coming at this from a 'guilty as hell perspective' as i have flamed the odd person o.O I think generally the flaming isn't so bad its the hundreds of identical posts by a handful of people that really do nothing to enamour me and have reduced my reading of this forum to 10mins every day or 2 rather than the hours i used to spend.

I do have a constructive suggestion though how about making a new forum for ranting? Let Off Stream or something. let people get their displeasure out without ruining this or the feedback forum. Not sure if thats asking for trouble or not but censorship generally does little for communities.

its such stupid to just ban them if they just want to say something..
that you banned fas i can understand.. but everyone do stupid things when he's angry... but banned kye... he didn't do anything and talked nicely...

"You", in this case can mean "Nevrex". So instead "What did you think would happen" would become "what did Nevrex think would happen".

I'm sure Xavier realises that (as a representive of Nevrex) he is a member of a company and that when people are talking to him "you" does not always mean "him" but can mean (and will more oftern than not on these forums) "Nevrex".

This is not meant to be a personal attack, but pointing out that English is not the best language for communicating (espiccally over text-based mediums) (I'm a native English speaker, and it's the only language I know... it's still not the best

Please lock this thread. It should have never been allowed to be "discussed". I feel it was left open only to bait the trolls.

Things had almost settled down, the skulls were going away, the Nevrax team was posting positive affirmations that our input was being considered and new flame posts were reduced to 1 or 2 a day.

I am glad to see the moderation team take a more aggressive stance and accept responsibility for the content on the forums. As Xavier said, the poison had gone on for too long.

I hope I don't get banned. I don't get to play Ryzom as much as I'd like and the forums offer insight and ideas that spur my own creativity.

Again, please close this thread. Some of us can't help ourselves but to feel targetted and respond emotionally.

Don't misunderstand me though. This is NOT meant to stop you from giving your real thoughts or from stating that something is bad if that's what you think. We rely on these comments to improve our work. But they have to be written in a constructive and courteous way.

Please don't feed the troll.

At first with Jessica's announcement and your first post I thought I might come back to the forums and see if anything did happen.

Now with the ridiculous bans you're just pulling a "Funcom" and courteous means you can't say anything bad about the company and draconian censorship.

You're not stopping the trolls and flames between players, you're just trying to improve the company's image by silencing any critics.

So much for coming back, let the former majority of the Ryzom playerbase that has now left the game know if you ever want to stop swinging from one bad extreme to another.

Why you just dont close the thread from the beggining? You banned GrimJim just for saying his opinion, he didnt flame, he is not a troll. I think just saying something opposite to your opinion of things is flame/troll. Well, i will say as well my opinion, i think you just must ban someone when he insults someone, all the other things is a dictatorship. Same happens in game where you cannot say any "bad" word doesnt matter if you are not insulting anyone. The difference is that you just ban without saying any bad word, or any insult, just ban for an opinion. I think if someone should be banned its you, just keep making that "good" work to increase SoR community...

Saying something is bad is constructive cause then they can make it well. Indeed if you just post here they do everything fine, then there is nothing to improve. Besides they even ban the ones that say something is bad in game or here. Thats called dictatorship.

Indeed they will probably ban me and not you for sure. Even though we just said our opinion, we are argueing about this and what a i said will be considered as flaming/troll but not you even thought we both have argued.
