Configure Ryzom

Everytime i try to run the patcher it locks up with the error..

A fatal error occurs. The program must quit

I've tried reinstalling the game, direct x 9.0c, and disabled my firewall and virus scanner. One of the game masters told me in an email to use the configure Ryzom application to change my video settings, but everytime i click on it, it starts the patcher instead. All my other online games work fine. I'm using Mozilla as my default browser. Someone mentioned service pack 2, but i'm not sure what to do about that. Any advice?

Bump, this is a very odd fault it seems. I'm thinking i have bad installation disks, do you think they'd send me replacements?
