The biggest tip for map markers...

I have been fighting with map markers for well over a year now. I hate being teamed and identifying places together. I always wished for a way to right click a location in the hud and have the marker be right there, and be visible in the HUD, would that not be cool.

Well, anyways, the other week I got the best tip I could imagine. After all this time not being able to place a marker where a friend or I was on the map, I learned...

That you can right click on the map in an open location and drag to the location you want the marker before releasing your right mouse button. And the marker will end up right where you released the button at even if it was over one of your friends.

WOW!!! how is this not documented?

(Just thought I would share, or point out how much of an IDIOT I am!)


P.S. Any other map tips that I have been missing? Can we get these in the 'Game Basics' section under a 'Utilizing your Map' section or something?

WOW!!! how is this not documented?

It must have been documented somewhere since I remember reading it in the early part of my life on Atys (early this year). For the life of me, I can't remember where though. Might have been an earlier forum posting or one of the player written guides. I agree it should be added to the main documentation.

where is the exact spot i am in?

Is it the center of that arrow? or the front tip? or the back-end?..

not that it matters a whole lot, but i'm curious.

the technique was mentioned in a post several months ago, sorry but I cannot recall who it was. I tell people Im teamed with how to to it if the issue comes up ingame.

For Mike.. Placing a map landmark where teammates are.. without selecting the teammate instead. As Noin said, you rightclick on any open area of the map, and holding the button down, drag the pointer to where you want the mark then release.. and place your landmark.
