not the only reason, but a big part. one of the most important reason ingame would be the nooblands which simply suck for getting closer to the community and the game itself. the next information source is the forums, which seem to be almost exclusively filled with complaints, voiced by people with rather a rather aggressive tone (*points at grim's pimpslap*), which makes people stay quiet and out of the flaming who think otherwise and could voice positive opinions. -> Thus the image of a very unfriendly community which is completely dissatisfied with the game.

So I'm absolutely sick and tired of the perpetuated myth that 'you're there' equals consent to putting up with the bodoc dung. It needs to be stamped out hard, every time it comes up. Doing it with a bit of humour is surely a good thing?

Grimjim, have some sympathy for Xavier. He has a tough job. Reading all these threads and providing the dev team with feedback. Moderating and placating the forums? I would throw up my hands and make a few glib remarks at the team meeting. :) As for telling you what is going on, he probably doesn't have the authority to do that. Any bureaucracy, even a small one, has to control its public pronouncements. Where I work, someone was fired within a day for having an unauthorized interview with the press. Xavier surely has to take your questions on to the teams and higher ups, have some meetings, they write up answers which then get published in the Q&A. No reason to wonder why we get instant action on editing foul language, etc. but no answers to questions, it is because the forum moderators are empowered to edit posts but not to answer tough questions. I do agree with you though, that more feedback from the top would be helpful.

*Assorted snippage*

I've done tech support, customer service is (relatively) a piece of... yubo urine.

It has been a WHILE now since the launch of the event... long enough for a meeting or three.

We used to get doughnuts in our meetings.

Now I want doughnuts, damn it.

The point of this post is that the vocal minority, either for or against are mainly the only ones you hear from here on the forums. There is a group of 30-50 people who verbally battle out the pros and cons of every little nit-picky detail.

The fact exists that there are very few people who actually visit here, much less post here, and you should never base the opinion of the entire community based on the forum. Go in-game and form your own opinions.

But another vocal minority has gotten just what they want... squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Even tho i partly agree with you, i've never found it particularly funny and for me it usually increased the feeling of hostility in a thread. :/

Well Im sat here at work reading this and it is disheartening to say the least. Why oh why can people not extole the good points of Ryzom. There must be some, after all you're all still here playing.

This game has to evolve, at the moment its like a big chat room with ability to do a few things. If this is how you want it to stay, it will become very stagnent.

Evolution takes time, you can't have everythng the way you want it when you want it. Give it a chance, I'm sure there are many things being looked at or are in the pipeline.

Ryzom has a fantastic community, the game has a beautiful look and feel unlike any other games I've tried (WoW, GW, EQ11 etc). It has freedom, the ability to wander everywhere and anywhere in the game world, no corridoor type elements. No doubt there will be elements in future that I like and dislike. You will not however find me damning the game because of those disliked elements.

Call me a fanboi if you have too, no doubt it will be because I won't join in with your condemnation.

And, for all the "back seat drivers", "so called game experts" we, including you, are playing this game and not yours, that alone must say something about your "expertise"!

rushin wrote:Well congratulations to all the people that have posted the 10,000 i quit/everyone i know is quitting, this suxx, the game is dead/ruined, blah blah messages. get this in your heads please: you are driving people away from the game, pissing off a whole load of current players with your childish threats and rantings.

read this very, very slowly:

THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVING FUN PLAYING RYZOM

THERE ARE LOTS OF GUILDS WHOOSE NUMBERS ARE GROWING AND NONE ARE LEAVING FROM

THERE ARE LOTS OF NEW PLAYERS AROUND

Please stop this constant crap on the forum, it is utterly unproductive which ever way you look at it. What gives you the right to try to ruin my game, because that is what this is.. You don’t like the game, find another ffs. you don’t have the right to try to put everyone else off playing and make newbie’s run in terror with these posts. What are you thinking? (and i use the term lightly)

I am sad when good people leave, but that’s what happens in life. People come and go but life carries on. Try to apply this philosophy here.

Perhaps a cursory check of a posters history will enlighten you a bit more to peoples outlooks. Perhaps you might notice a very positive fully involved player that feels part of a great and wonderful thing. Maybe you will see a time of change. Maybe I do not like feeling as disposable as I apparently am to you.
I come from a large family IRL. At giftingtimes the mantra from my parents was "Don't read the boxes." This was because you open the wrap to a lovely great terrific thing on the recycled box, but inside will be underwear (and not strawberry edible either). This is all I was saying to the new one. Buyer beware. This subscription fee is fair but it is not small change to everyone.

Noin.

An interesting point Noin.

I was chatting to a guildie that only heal once in the AD lands and had a small amount of honour for doing so....

When they checked the leader board the said they were rank <250 place, with the comment they thought there were more people taking part.

Lets say there are 300 taking part (many player have avoided it completely).

Suddenly those 30-50 people become 1/6 of the event players!
