Neutral does not Equal PvP flag set to "NO PvP for ME"

At least I think these should all exist. Now how to give the Neutrals a way to PvP???

Neutral + PvP flag = engage with opposing sides in ANY way. (Heal/Rez/Attack) but also open to attack etc from any other side.

We also need to be able to choose our faction according to whim, not fame (but with impact on fame).

I think there should be a one-time option to set your fame back to +0/-0. At this point you could choose the side you wish to help by doing missions. You could do a mission or two to change your faction. After this one time option, if you chose to get high fame for one faction you should have to work to gain trust with the opposing faction.

Nevrax plans to redone all the fame system, prolly it will be a fame reset time too, as patch1 was a stanza reset too.

All I have to say, is that I think the idea is stupid and if you do it-which I'm sure you will because you dont really care that most people dont want FvF-I'm gone. Simple as that. Actually, I'm almost positive that all of the Out of Cavern guild will leave. Hope the right decision is made.

Ok, i thought this over for a few days and talked to a few people about this and have come to the conclusion that the PvP-switch really needs to be three-fold:

Option 1: Active PvP Warrior, as described in the document with PvP-switch on.

Option 2: Retired PvP Warrior/PvP Warrior On Leave, works as described in the document for PvP-switch off.

Option 3: Civilian, as with PvP-switch off, but with a few twists.
The choice to civilian means requesting special treatment from the Kami and Karavan in exchange for a promise of never actively harming them and is irreversible. This choice is respected by both Karavan and Kami and thus both factions will do everything in their powers to keep their war efforts out of the lives of these homins. This means that the Karavan will dispatch agents to staff the Kami porters in taken regions and vice versa for the only purpose of allowing these homins to pass unhindered. The only price these homins will have to pay are these two restrictions:
The inability to gain any honour points, but they still will be able to gain fame.
The inability to heal Active PvP Warriors in any zone and probably the inability to heal Retired PvP Warriors in zones that have been taken by a faction. (not too sure on the last one)

Xavier, unless you know a better alternative, please pass this on. This will show the players that Nevrax is willing to make concessions for them and listen to them, while also showing that the Kami and Karavan are not only war-mongering beasts.

Besides people,

Lets not be rash? yea its maybe not what most any of us want, but we shouldnt just pack our bags and leave :(

maybe lets stake it out.. i mean - instead of everyone leaving - what if only a very few actually accept the new changes and really work on them? i myself plan to be loyal to my guild's wishes, cause u know - were a bunch a mercenaries and hey, they're paying me to further their cause (well, maybe not in cold hard dapper, but i'm getting the perks)

apart from that, i DOUBT ill have anything to do with the FvF - if everyone else takes the same stand, then nevrax wont have any choice BUT to fix it for us.

how many changes are EVER permanent with nevrax? lookat all the changes they keep making to suit our needs - and after seeing how quickly they addressed the episode2 problem of otherland diggers in desert dunes, they might just as quickly change the rest of this stuff *shrug*

i for one, will horribly miss all that leave. those that plan to leave (if you have anywhere to go.. i'd like to know) are the poeple that made this game great, and set up the awesome community found nowhere else (again.. where would u go?)

Wow... it really is a shame. I have tried many other games, and I must say this game "had" something special. Slowly it is dying. First it was the fact that so little was changing, but staying because of the community was worth it, and what was coming was going to be sooo good. Now it seems like another PvP game.

Don't get me wrong. PvP is OK. I like to play it a little, althou I always wanted kyrix to be a neutral healer, but guess what, there is no way of playing a neutral healer.

Even if i am not online so often, I was thinking of keeping my sub to support a local company with a great concept. has this concept changed?

Several ways of fixing this occur to me, and the posibility of creating a world full of complexities that can keep "almost" everybody happy are possible.

I will list some ideas i have got from playing other games and would like to post them soon, but I want to think them over a bit. but some things that could improve non PvP play vastly are:

revamp crafting/economoy. take a look at eq2. a complex crafting system, where u need to make one object to make another to make another.... and no grinding. grinding is very senseless, and is not very "real". work on a complexer economoy (reduce space to force sale (not needed if no grind actually, but create collectibles independent from storage space to allow plp to make collections (could improve fame))

make the faction world a little complexer, allowing not only a neutral faction, but several neutral, kami, karavan flavours. rebels that fight against both superpower factions, that buy technology stolen from the kara/kami, stolen by the neutral thieve faction, or the inventor faction from the tryker schools in avendale. even a kami karavan faction who are not so fanatic and sole purpose is defending from the kitin, and u could even create the kitin lovers who carry out spy work missions for the kitin.

allow not PvP crafters and harvesters to be able to hire guards for escort that only defend (maybe with stun spells or similar) while traveling or harvesting in certain controlled areas, or something similar to provide groups of "peacefull" homins means of defending themselves coherent with game play. if the game is balanced and allow "somehow" for everybody to have some fun it will be a lot better than a game that just has harvesters areas and pvp areas, and an area only for RP. ryzom is one world, manage a way of keeping it together.

create collaboration missions. the temples are a good start, but you could create a list of special items that need to be crafted with "normal" stuff, in different areas, and with different crafters.

create some uniqueness. not only in appearance. unique items, or unique spells. tons of them, some that u find others that u do a mission. maybe some that can only be taught from one homin to another,

change xp sistem. you get xp only by harvesting, crafting and killing. i think many would love to play a healer char that never kills nor takes part in killing, plant homin or kitin. u can lvl harvest and craft and even in some way melee and nuke alone, but not heal or afflictions. how about getting xp from missions, or everytime you heal an npc, plant or injured animal, or everytime u use def aff and escape from an aggro. so many posibilities.

ahh the difficult one. spezialization. if there is nothing else to do in the game, guess its ok to lvl like a tamagochi and be like all the others that are 250 melee 250 nuker 250 healer... but for those who want to have something special, there should be some prize. lets say when u reach 250 nuke you can choose between a tree of actions, nothing to do with lvls, but just very special unique actions, and u must choose a "path knowledge". it doesnt make u "higher" but more special.

well i just threw some ideas on the board, i would like to work on them more and post them some time. anyways, nevrax, i think there are several ways of offering all u want to offer, but it seems that "we cannot do all at a time" is not good enough and maybe its time you get your dev team working on non pvp issues. :D

aahh i forgot. i would love to c something that allows more politics in the game, being able to vote at assemblies, creation of law, police, etc... the posibility of creating treaties in game and somehow enforcing them, (ie honor points or similar) ingame posibility of creating alliances or super guilds, or guild subsections, or cross guild "orders" (ie the teala order of healers) etc..

but i guess now i am asking to much. :)

what else, being able to create ur own shops, employ npcs, employ other chars, some way of having newbies as apprentiates (maybe with special stanzas that u can only aquire if u hunt or craft with the person after a certain time)....

and a sneak stanza tree. :D i would love that.

hehehe... my dream game, than i could reeely forget rl.

addition to my post above: gameplaywise the third option would allow all players who choose it to use all spawns and porters EXACTLY as they are now. (fame & dappers)
