For sure it should not be a Candy Stick as I would expect it to be reitred for posterities sake. I did like the weapon, that was cool, everyone could get one.
Maybe a shield that is decorated, Or some lumps of coal, or nifty shoes(to go with a different tradition) I don't particularly care for stuff that overly exudes a RL thing in an in-game world, so don't do evergreens decorated all over the place as our favorite game to hate(read WoW) has done by placing jack-o-lanterns all about the lands. (I did like the easter eggs though when that happened.) Maybe a similar with Gifts about. Have them fight back though, Some could explode when you loot them, etc.
