 :(
There was a rating rush from EQ and EQ2, but the drop did coincide with developments too.

Abraham Lincoln warned in 1858 that a "house divided against itself cannot stand."

Is it just me or does anyone else see the problem with this Kami vs. Karavan thing?

A thought crossed my mind today... this post was originally done because of my fears for the game as more and more players leave or decide to take a break until R2 comes out.

Having read so many opinions on this I dont believe anyone has pointed out or thought about the following regarding players leaving and those coming into the game.....

The majority of the players who are leaving are high level players, maxed in many skills and has probably taken them about a year of playing to get there. Those coming into the game will have to play for a rough equivalent of the same time in order to achieve the same levels thus creating a natural shortfall.

The side effects of this "conflict" is also noticable in other areas of the game. Take a quick trip round the merchants and see how little is on offer. Do a /who in any particular region and you will see very few players compared to pre EP2.

Now imagine a new player has just ported from newbie land, still on his/her 14 day trial eager to sample what SoR has to offer. Well at the moment not much. Previously there was "the community" ready to hold the players hand, to help them, to advise them, to show them the ways of Atys. It's always been an uphill struggle to get the trial players to go on to buy the game and subscribe. Every guild has experienced it. You take on a new player and after one to two weeks you notice they arent playing anymore. Trial ended they moved on. Those that have been looked after by "the community" well tend to stay on more than those who are in a dif timezone to the main players in their guild etc.

So my concerns are still there and I haven't seen anything yet to make me think its getting any better. I still see players leaving. The full knock on effect of EP2 may not be fully seen until a few months down the line.

EP2 is NOT an event, it will not end after a given time and have no further impact on the game. A common misconception.

It is up to the powers that be to stop this. EP2 has shown there is a huge demand for FvF, PvP style content within Ryzom but it has to be delivered in a way that everyone can enjoy it, not just for those who are higher level. Whether that be with graduated zones (as with the general style of areas now) or by allowing those without the desire to do FvF, PvP being able to play a integral part, larger maps with hard to get to zones etc etc. However it is done, it needs to be done and quickly or it shouldn't be linked to future content.

Patch 1 was recoverable because the game was still in its early days so those that left and were then replaced didnt have such a lvl difference. The balance across the game playing board could still be maintained. The imbalance that EP2 is creating could take many many months to balance back out again..

This is one of the very real reason that I'm not logging on this moment. I tried really hard to get into the event, trying to defend diggers and fighting of attackers that are way higher level than myself.

My frustration coming to the end with the whole thing, left it. Everyone who knows me knows I love to go on trips, do boss hunts etc. But I log into areas, and theres no one there... theres no one about, and if I want to ask a crafter I know to make something for me it's hard to find one as not many are digging or doing much of anything else at the moment. Either in the arena or just not loging on at the moment.

haha ! whatever Fry... please change something on your list ! I'm not waitng anymore for somewhething to change soon on the game.
the lovely thread news #1456 has decided for me : there is something new coming next month in the game.
bah, i thought i'd be the last to say that but... really, let's meet somewhere else... although it will prolly take me months to recover from this disappointment (my english/french dictionnary being unable to translate the real word i'd like to use).
I won't even give it a try ! Not being able to wander wherever i want ??? watch "large battles safely all over the territory" ???
That's just not Zes, nor Ulresile.

Till this next patch, Zes will be crafting HA armours and melee weapons with focus bonus... for sale in every good shops.
Zespiole - Les Amants de Fairhaven (i'm not small, i was shrunk while loading !!!)
Ulresile - Samsara

EP2 has not shown this at all. Its just something new to do and once the newness wears off and players realize just how much of a grind this is/will be then a new round of complaints will surface.

You've already seen that a bit with pro PvPers complaining about the implementatin and the nature of PvP within the game system.

Remember, Lot of participants != Lots of enjoyment or demand.

Its the first integrated event with rewards, lore and a difference to the landscape. A lot of primary diggers in the event what nothing whatever to do with the PvP.

I am not enjoying the new stuff, I do participate ..
because I want to get it FINISHED AND GONE !!
PvP in Ryzom is grossly unbalanced, badly designed, lacking in meaningful options and just not much fun. There are plenty of other games out there which do it far better - and competing with them makes Ryzom look stupid and pathetic.

As something to get bored AoDs off the street, ep2 was needed and useful but should NEVER have been forced on the rest of the playerbase. and yes, it was forced on us, because it is the only option given to us.
The news about regions in OUR Atys being closed off to players due to FvF zone control has got to be one of the stupidest things the devs have come up with yet. "lets kill the new players if they leave their capital city zone hey ? ". No more friendly treks showing newcomers the wonders of Atys, if you want to visit another land it will have to be as a member of a military strikeforce, oh , and you need to be over level 200 or you're no use to us - go kill LOTS more sprightly yubos..

I really cant see how they could have done more harm to Atys, and if anyone can please dont mention it - Im beginning to suspect active malice...

you cant be attacked when you dont want to (PvP flag)

why waste your time and post here if they dont listen (yep, they do listen, but only good comments)

i think it's time for another "weekly" (i think that was weekly before) dev letter to give us Nevrax's next years plans
