The PvP Strike team seem to be very active at the moment, what about the "Rite Strike Team" or the "anything else" strike team come to think of it.

Thinks just seemed to be calming down a little over EP2 but alot of the community is still writhing over PvP and looking for answers on non-PvP based content.

Was this really the time to announce more PvP?

I am in general enjoying EP2 although PvP needs alot more work but my overall Ryzom experience includes the community and my freinds and when a substantial number are feeling let down or shut out completly you put your big boots on and stamp all over them some more, hmm if all we are gonna end up with is battleground Atys then shame on the lot of you.

The problem is it seem a lot of the players now are not into this sort of game play. I think we will lose players to this change, I just hope we get enough new players to keep the game alive.
Neva, Neva, Neva... this is the exact problem with the current PvP for people who would enjoy defending their land or faction. Me as a lvl 151 basically I am relegated to healing and that is it. (from way in the back) As any of the 40 lvl 250 Nukers can take me out in 1 or 2 casts or 2-3 whacks from a lvl 250 melee. What fun is there in that for the majority of players?

I think they need to find a way to make this implementation more grouped to the region or something. So that around Yrk and in the Majestic Garden region a Lvl 250 attacking the "tower" loses honour points for it's faction overall or somehting. then the lower level players would also have something to fight for. Why should all the 250's run around and determine who rules what when. The others including the new players should be able to contribute.

The benefits should be weighted somehow also. If I am lvl 50 and in a level 200 region I should get more benefit thatn a lvl 100 player from the tower in that region, and a lvl 250 should get less benefit than a level 200 would get.

My first thoughts upon reading this probably match those of a lot of players. I do kinda feel stabbed in the back, since i just almost lost a friend and avid anti-pvp player, who had agreed to remain only after a lot of talking with different people. On the other hand i can't wait to see how this plays out, IF there are enough players left to actually play it out. :/

article wrote:The first thing to keep in mind is the role of the PvP flag. You will only be affected by the rules and effects described in this document if you choose to enable it. This way, if you don't want to participate in the PvP conflict, you will be able to stay out of it – you will only be affected by the availability of respawn points and teleport tickets. However, there will be an interesting difference: there will be large battles all over the territory, which you will be able to watch safely. :-)

...

a) Respawn
It is impossible to respawn in a region owned by an opposing faction. It is possible to respawn in a neutral region, a region controlled by one’s faction, or in one’s own capital.

b) Teleportation tickets
It is impossible to use TP tickets when their destination is an area owned by an opposing faction. It is possible to use TP tickets in neutral areas, areas controlled by one’s faction, or in capitals.

So is this "consensual" too? If I don't want to engage in PvP, I am now limited to where I can go?!? Yeah.... See, I really like the travelling/exploring part and collecting TP tickets. So now I'll only be able to go the jungles by starting just outside Zora (since I have a slightly positive Karavan fame)? No more hunting outside Min Cho?

If I'm reading this right, you'll seriously cut into the game I enjoy unless I become a PvP'er. (In an environment where PvP just isn't balanced; i.e. an MMO with levels)

xeno, don't think too much about it... (you other guys are typing too fast :p )
I'm sad to believe that you will be losing some friends on Atys over this.

For me this announcement hit quite timely. At the moment, if I actually do log in, I'm doing some rather unmotivated digging in the now devoid lands while trying to make my mind up about what to actually do within E-2 to not get the feeling of being left out. My level of indifference has been rising worryingly high already.
And now, here it is, the cry to even more onslaught, even though there are some really interesting aspects going with it. We knew about Outposts being mainly PvP for some time now, having scrapped the formerly brilliant diplomatic advance, and now there'll be even more... It'd be OK, if we had not been dealing cooperatively with each other for more than a year by now and/or if you're into PvP and/or if you see PvP fit on Atys. I'm not, however.

And with all details revealed until now, a peaceful character who does not want to be involved in PvP grandscale, refusing to kill (former?) friends, has absolutely no chance to be able to not be affected by it. Even if it's "only" in the way it is now: solitary play as of almost everybody being engaged in Aelius.
Of all the things around E-2 and about to arrive soon are there any additions available that are not on the list of being fought over?

I will wait until the first day of my free month to kick in before my cursor hitting a certain cancellation link. There is a tiny, little spark of hope left: maybe something new and peaceful might arrive after all or Atys population might "grow back up" again, gain immunity to the bloodlustpotion and reorganizes it's selfregulatory means. Quite honestly, I doubt I'll live to see R²...*shrugs*

The Nevarax Solution? MORE PVP!

We are perfectly aware that PvP isn't something which will be interesting for everyone. However, we can only do one thing at a time: the focus of Chapter III is clearly on PvP, to provide the gameplay basis of the storylined war, and provide content for those willing to engage into PvP.

Our goal is not to convert Ryzom into a PvP-only game, and we won't only add PvP content in the future - it only reflects the short-term actuality of Ryzom.
