I know it puts mellee at a disadvantage and using it on mobs to lvl is an exploit to be stamped on but in a PvP situation I am definitly in the use of terrain/tactical camp.
Why would a player with no ranged attack approach a posistion they cant hit.
Nuking harvestors for "honour" points is another issue altogether which I feel should be addressed with more consequences for PvP altogether.

Re: New Bad Behaviour in Zone
Jool got cliffed yesterday whilst digging at the wood spot in AD. A couple of times to be exact, by the same person. Thing is..we were all unarmed diggers, without guards, so he could have just walked over to us and killed us all anyhow, but intstead decided to use an exploit...Good thinking!!
Then, a brilliant thing happened, some of my guildies rushed out there and gave the cliffer a good hiding - payback!

and you weren't running the second an unidentified dot got in range?rob01 wrote:Thing is..we were all unarmed diggers, without guards
i mean, knowing there was no protection, seeing a potential danger approach, taking the risk and then complaining when the odds were against you? sorry, don't see any justification in that.

...well saidxenofur wrote:well, today i had a very nice experience with cliffing: saw some kami on the wood spot dropped while i was down on the shell spot, ran to heal him when suddenly two karavan put themselves on the cliff, i managed to get one heal in, increasing his time to ~ 8 minutes and got the heck outta there. stopped at 51 m and danced in and out, waiting for them to try and nuke me and generally kept them busy until the kami force had advanced behind them. the end is history.
now what's the difference here? i'm not a mob. i can run away. i know their limits and i know how they think. this is something that all mobs don't have, they don't even KNOW how to run away. using the cliffs to kill them is basicaly exploiting their ai. that's why using cliffs on them is called cliffing and using them on players is tactics.

Unarmed? No guards? In a PVP zone? All by your lonesome? When EVERYTHING except your fellow harvesters can, and WILL kill you?rob01 wrote:Thing is..we were all unarmed diggers, without guards

So you'll take advantage of the rewards but condone those who are the risk to earn that reward, whereas there are those who actually fight and die for the reward. You are high because of your claim to neutrality, however i feel that it is as much an exploit to manipulate morals and ethics, to safely gain the reward other work hard for. Akin to lvling and calling foul if the mob fights back, ot akin to a ganker using rp to justify an act of aggression, for you its rp to gain an advantage over other harvesters (whether intended or not, that is the case). If you seek reward from the kami then expect to be prevented by karavan.grimjim wrote:Check my rankings and tell me I'm not giving the event a fair crack.

The only way neutrals can attempt to interact and get anything at all from this event - which has failed to give them any other means to interact - is to assist both sides as much as possible to complete their temples so that things stay even.
I refuse to be left out because of Nevrax's shortsightedness and am finding a way to get something from the event the only way I can that is consistent with my RP.
Hopefully next time the neutrals etc will be factored into the event better, or have a concurrent event of their own.
A reward is a reward is a reward, if they were letting us choose faction (and take fame hits) I'd be aiming to get rewards from both sides and help both sides complete a temple. I'm not really given the choice though.
And you're willing to use a tissue thin fabric of feeble plot justification to impose your playstyle on people who haven't been given any other option, which makes you post stink of hypocrisy.

Re: New Bad Behaviour in Zone
How about the fact that you cannot see them through the cliff to target them?sprite wrote:Tbh I personally wouldn't call that "cliffing". To me at least, cliffing is attacking something from somewhere that means it can never reach you back. A melee or harvester can run away (in theory at least, yes I know in practice there's no time to do that before you die) or switch weapon sets (again in theory).
To me it makes no difference whether you nuke them from on a cliff or from 50m range, and I'm pretty sure in most circumstances it wouldn't matter to them either because they usually can't kill the nuker either way.
Of course your argument will be you can just roll your cursor over the entire area so that you could see if a targeting rectile pops up!!! Seems that you are unfairly hiding. (Personally, I think a spell should collide with the wall and not reach the target.
EDIT: Seems the best way to fix this would be to make the plataue(sp) be 80 meters high with no accessible cliffing areas.
