No Jessica, I don't See Nevrax as Responsive

Post by jared96 »

Since you brought it up......

Let me go over a bit of history. I particpated in the Beta, then the FBT. During both I contributed pages and pages or reports, spreadsheets and many of the suggestions that I made (which I am sure many other players made the same suggestions) found there way into the game. I enjoy finding and reporting bugs and contributing to the betterment of the game by getting them resolved as much as I do playing it.

Let me also say that the GM's in this game are phenomenal group of people and it is a shame they are not supported by the development team. But since FBT ended, let me go over my personal history with the game and Nevrax's "responsiveness".

1. I decided to take 3 months off at the end of FBT and waited till january to jump into the retail release. My FBT account would not transfer / convert intio a new account. It took 5 MONTHS of e-mails back and forth with Nevrax to get in game .... and I was only able to get in game by giving up my FBT character name. FIVE MONTH IS UNACCEPTABLE....and note the problem was never solved, I just gave up trying to get Nevrax to fix what they had been promising me for 5 montsh they would fix.

On scale of 0 -> 10...Nevrax response is 0

2. After leveling up my character a bit and joining a guild....a relatively new and therefore poor guild, I started digging and crafting to get some funds in Guild Hall. I pretty much ignored any activity other than digging and crafting. In the early stages of my effort I found that the trainer was still offering to sell me Resource Preservation 2 when I already had it. I could see it in my hands bar, I could and had been using it, yet she wouldn't sell me Level 3 since 2 was still grayed out. I sent in a ticket which was responded to by Turenkarn. I sent him screen shots which showed thet RP2 was in my hands bar, I was able to use it and that the harvester trainer was till trying to offer it to me. He instructed me to buy the skill again and if that worked, my missing skill points would be returned.

Three months later, I had still not gotten a response despite weekly prods to progress. I finally got a mesage saying that my account had been looked at I was not missing any skill points. I then asked how they could explain the screen shots and how they could explain the fact that I showed screenshots showing 30 skill points available with RP2 in my hands bar and RP2 and 3 grayed out and only 20 skill points with just RP3 grayed out (after buying 2nd time). Still no answer.

On scale of 0 -> 10...Nevrax response is 0

I then refiled with the same complaint again after the same thing hapened after buying RP level 5. Walked in with skill points to spend, came out with no RP5 and no skill points. The answer only took a month this time but this time it said that it had already been answered. The answer they were referring to was the complaint about RP2 from 5 months before not the new complaint for RP5.

On scale of 0 -> 10...Nevrax response is 0

3. During a server crash, I had just finished crafting a bag load of HA helmets and upon relogging my bag had only 3 helmets in it and that the xp I gained from making them was also gone. After 6 or 7 weeks, gain with weekly prodding on my part, I received a response saying that I had not lost anything and that , "in fact", the records showed I hadn't done any crafting at all that day. The real fact is I had done nothing but dig and craft off the mats in weeks and that if I wasn't crafting what the heck did the records show I was doing.

On scale of 0 -> 10...Nevrax response is 0

Note that I was not seeking a return of the lost items or the return of the lost XP but I did not appreciate being called a liar as an excuse not to investigate the problem.

4. During the same server crash I had a guildie who had just purchased a mount. Being new to game I filed report for him. A week later I took him thru the process of filing a report, 5 months later neither he nor I have received a response other than the initial GM pm saying itw as sebnt to developers.

On scale of 0 -> 10...Nevrax response is 0

5. I was offered the opportunity to play on the ATS and sent instructions on how to gain access to the server. Each tiome I do, I get a response saying I do not have correct permissions to access this web site area, klients or the serevr itself. Two months of inquires and NO RESPONSE from Nevrax

On scale of 0 -> 10...Nevrax response is 0

So no Jessica I do not se Nevrax as being responsive to customer concerns. If nothing is ever going to be done about Lost items or skills then just take it off the support ticket options and tell us we are SOL.

The GM's are great and do all within their power to help the players out but as soon as I hear the words, "we'll send it up to the developers", I just respond "nevermind".

People have been asking for months that Nevrax provide a non PvP alternate to their plans. Not one word has been put forth on how this could / could not be accomplsihed. Not one question was asked by Nevrax on what we would like to see in THIS regard. Instead we got "no interest, no matter" discussions on racial animations and changes in titles. I have posted the following in several threads but not seen one answer on a) how this might be accomplsihed b) why it can't be accomplished or c) how it would negatively impact PvP.

The answer given by Nevrax and a portion of the Pro-PvP crowd is akin to telling a vegetaraian that if he doesn't want to eat meat, he doesn't have to eat. The other side of the pro PvP crowd has ackowledged that such changes would not hurt the PvP aspects that they enjoy. So if you want to say that Nevrax is responsive, then say something in response to the concerns repeatedly expressed by your subscribers.

Finally try and get away from seeing what you want to see. Don't assume, as many have done, that the participation of players opposed to PvP in the new lands as "success". Think of it as what it is....a bunch of peeps so starved for anything new that they will particpate in anything just to see something fresh. PvP is a style of play, it's not content.

You had a unique position here, a game which allowed individuals and families to enjoy a MMORPG which provided for a cooperatice problem solving environment.....a community which on evry game site on the web we read the virtues of the Ruyzom Community being extolled. Think about what your game excells at, what makes it different from the mass of other and more popular alternatives out there. With recent developments, the community has detriorated, the players-your subscribers are frustarted and many are leaving.

If you want to be seen as responsive, the following is thrown on the table. It's previously been posted in at least two threads and was originally compiled from player suggestions in various threads.

________________________________________________________________

Why not accomodate multiple styles and provide the following options:

1. Allow Guilds and individuals to declare a neutral faction position.

2. Have a harsh honor point penalty for killing a neutral.

3. Allow guilds to decline a war "invitation".

4. Allow guilds who accept a invitation to war set the terms of what they win / lose. Register with the ministry of war and use the exchange window to deposit dappers, items or the keys to your outpost. Only winner can retrieve.

5. Confine the majority of FvF to "islands" and / or have any mainland FvF/PvP areas "move" so that everyone could get a chance to explore and enjoy all of the game content.

6. Provide a neutral's faction alternate to temple building such as building monuments to four heroes which united all homins against the kitin threat. Have these monuments be tied to the lore with the 4 special weapons noted in the web site history and let neutral's use honor points to charge their special weopns with the "spirit of these heroes"

7. This isn't a neutral thing but to encourage participation by neutrals or even peeps willing to fight for other side, adjust honor points by the odds. For example, one means in which this could be accomplished say in a limited battle between four QL250 players and three QL250 players, the smaller group has accomplished the greater deed for the kill so they should get 133 % of the honor points that the 250 players get (4 x 250) / (3 x 250). This would give neutrals an option of merc'ing for the disadvantaged side and getting greater points making the outcome less than a foregone conclusion because there would be greater reward for supporting the disadvanatged side. Display the "Faction Power" at the temples so people could see the advantages of fighting for either side.

Incorporation of the above would:

1. Provide a better story line.
2. Expand the roles peeps could play.
3. Allow peeps who don't generally want to PvP to "hire out" as mercs when the mood strikes.
4. Allow all peeps to experience all areas of the
game.
5. Allow peeps to play the game they want to play.

Sorry to butt in, but I have a question as something has me confused. Your concept would impose an honor point penalty for killing neutrals, but those same neutrals could earn honor points while acting as mercenaries for a faction. In this system, a neutral mercenary who gets killed loses nothing, while the person who killes said neutral mercenary takes a hit to their honor points.

How does this make any sense at all?

Again, I apologize for interrupting as you have some very valid points. I just hope you will clarify for everybody reading.

yes that is a valid point indeed.

hmm What if players under the neutral swicht lost a great deal of honor everytime they participate in killing Homins. So if they feel like seeling out as merchs they have to choose side.

Simple enough: As a neutral you cannot attack any other faction than 'Neutral'. If you want to fight Kamis or Karawan, then you'll have to declare yourself for the opposite faction.
Thosam - Hunter of small defenseless animals, Forager near safe areas and Crafter of useless junk.

I hereby declare myself to be a Hominist. Ask me about my philosophy.

I survived Patch 1. :) I'm not so sure about Episode 2. :confused:

Allow faction, kami/karavan/neutral to be chosen at will upon entering an area and apply a fame penalty/gain each time allowing people to be versatile.

Killing a neutral would likely be seen as slightly honourable by both sides, but to a lesser degree.

Sorry, I should have been more expansive....itwuz clear in my head when written but after reading the missive "cold", I could see the holes.

There are two possible scenarios to play out. One, nevrax gives neutrals their own island where they can forage mats and build a monument to heroes of the past that united the 4 races.

The Neutrals have their own playground scenario - whereas they have no reason to be in Aelius

1. In mainlands or pr, a neutral would only be neutral while acting in a neutral manner. If he / she took sides, then the "gloves are off".....they treated same as anyone else. Once you sign on as a merc or hireling for either side, until such time as you break that allegiance, you fair game for the other side.

2. And two, neutral status goes out the window the moment you enter "boob island". The honor point penalty would ONLY be applied for killing truly non-aligned individuals on mainlands and PR.

The Neutrals are denied their own playground scenario - whereas they have reason to be in Aelius cause it's the only new thing on the menu.

This option is more perilous and it's one which frankly I havent thought much on. Certainly the above two items apply but it seems quite harsh not to provide a true role to play for peeps whio just wanan see something different without being forced into a play style they do not enjoy.

No, I mean actually choosing.
IIRC this was available before when an area was put in for testing but was bugged and did something funky to fame.

You would get the choice upon entering the area and your fame would be affected.

Grinding missions is fine for people who don't have a lot of fame already (racial or faction) but isn't so much an option for others.
