Dear Jessica,
I was happy to see that you actually responded to a post in one of the (many and, quite often, lengthy) Episode 2 threads. It was this response that prompted me to write this to you. I'm not one to usually start threads. Firstly, there are usually others who have beaten me to it, and all I can do is add to it with my views. It was only when something was truly needed to be said that lead to me creating an actual thread. This is one of those times. Regarding Episode 2: Thank you.
The Temple race has nearly all of Atys in its grasp, and the total number of people that are in that FvF zone is simply amazing. Its eerily empty in the other regions of Atys. Doing a /who in the Void last nite came up with only two people who were not part of the group I was with. The same can be said for many other regions. Places like GoC, where the Kami Tolerance was almost always 0 in certain areas, its practically empty, and the KT is plentiful. The people who normally frequent these areas are busy digging, crafting and fighting their ways towards the building of their temples.
There have been many lengthy and wordy responses given to how its not enough, too much, not enough choice, etc. regarding the FvF. I hardly need tell you that no matter what you do, what changes are made to Atys, you will never satisfy everyone. A shame, perhaps, but a fact of life, none the less. The sheer numbers of people who are roaming around the FvF zone, happy as Larry, should tell you that this Episode has so far been a success. You even listened to the complaints we had on the zone, fixed them in a very prompt manner (something we were beginning to think was something impossible, I'm afraid), and even helped adjust the temples so that any advantage the Kami had during the first few days was rectified.
The amount of posts and reaction to the episode on these very forums should be an indicator of the episodes success. The world of Atys long told of two religious worlds who opposed each other. This never truly came into the game play until now. There were even guilds that attempted to provoke some response for following one side or the other (the Kult of Kami comes to mind), however, they were ignored and considered troublemakers. Now, with the arrival of this episode, we can see the competition between the two religions. And, as in real life, there are those who choose to follow and those who choose to walk their own path. Reminds me of real life conflicts between counties. There will always be those who fanatically defend their country, while at the same time, those who oppose and attempt to prevent what their country is doing. A great deal of those who are posting against the new episode were those who have long protested against PvP/FvF (or wanted it severely limited... in which case having it limited to a region in which you have to agree to teleport to seems reasonable). Since they were not happy with PvP/FvF to begin with, there was little chance that they would enjoy the FvF zone. Again, can't please everyone (and something about eggs and omelettes comes to mind)
Anyway, this have become much longer than I had planned. Again, I thank you and the rest of the Nevrax team for Episode 2. I can only hope that things continue like this and that they progress at a decent rate (while the corrective patch was indeed fast, I still remember how long it took for things like Episode 2 to arrive, so you'll have to forgive me if I have my doubts)
With Great Respect,
Morgaine

Great post Morgaine!
I must agree, I've been playing nearly non stop since monday night and have never seen the region empty far far. I would say I've seen 40-60 people in the region at quiet times and several hundred on peak times, its incredible.
I love how harvesters of one faction have to work together like never before, how the event brings each side together and it gives me a chance to make new and fun friends
I can safely say I havnt had this much fun in a game in years.
Way to go nevrax!

Re: Letter to Jessica Mulligan
Nice post
I haven't yet been able to experience this new addition to ryzom (dam my internet connection), i haven't even been able to login to try out the new character animations. i'm absolutely busting to login.
I have a feeling that when i do log in that i will be ticking the "support the new area" box.
Its a bit of a let down to see all the negative comments on the forums, but then thats the way its always been. People are always faster to criticise than praise (if at all).
Thank you nevrax (in advance)

Morgaine you know I am not anti-pvp completly and taking into account the Fact you are a high lvl pro PvP nuker I fully understand how pleased you are with the new old lands area, after all it looks like it was coded pretty much just for you.

Re: Letter to Jessica Mulligan
Morgain, you do realise that last night you and your merry band were greately outnumbered by a cross faction group that does not like "your" type of light entertainment? In fact I believe that at some point the majority of the people in the zone were working together peacefully and you only managed to break us up because we were bound by the FvF restrictions as well as having a lot of people there who simply refused to fight an other player.
Re: Letter to Jessica Mulligan
.. and now non-PvP side of the story.
episode 2 is a ig dissapointment for non-PvP ppl (not neccessary neutrals/RP'ers, just non-PvP ppl).
it is possible to make everyone happy.
now, i understand that killing harvesters is one way to slow down progression to enemies, but it's only includes ppl who likes PvP.
it would have been much better if there would have been "Harvest/Craft camp and area non FvF/PvP, then from that camp, warriors need to take mats/items to final destination, where those items would have been teleported to construction site.
area and path would have been long and FvF. kill convoy, stop progression on enemies.
non-PvP and PvP ppl can get their honor points and _everyone_ would be happy and dont fee left out.
about lot of posts related to episode 2 - those are complaints and threads where players tell that they will leaving Ryzom because of ep2.
does not show how successful ep2 really is ;-(
was not meant to be flaming/whining, just some thoughts from "other side" who is not happy at all with ep2 ;-(

I was was there last night and so were many others, we were "taking part" in our own way. We were having fun until someone decided the way we were "taking part" wasn't permitted there and decided to end it.
But you're right: Not perfect, far from....
Re: Letter to Jessica Mulligan
I enjoyed reading your post Morgaine but I still feel that a lot of the "pro PvP'ers" are missing the point completely about why so many don't feel as you do. I have had a ton of fun in the FvF zone so far and I fully intend to have more, I might even go in with hp gear on one day soon and dish out some revenge
The main problem, as I see it, is that this area is linked to future content which will be linked to honour points gained from within this zone. This in turn means that they are being denied future content unless they take part. This is the crux of it all, they are being forced into it, there is no choice. To a large extent those with lower levels are being denied as well.
I am quite sure that if this was a seperate area using the current temple building theme but NOT linked to future content it would have been a lot more succesful as the argument "if you dont like it, dont go there" would hold a lot more weight and the choice would be entirely the players.
Or maybe my understandind of it all is totally whacked and I just wasted 10 mins forming this reply but I'm at work so no biggy
