Players leaving because of recent events

Just making this post to show that there ARE also people who like the event (hate all those negative posts) and no i'm not a ganker, no hard feelings for the other faction, just having fun killing some of those Kava's and being chased by them

This is not the problem. Its ok that a lot of people have fun chasing each other.

But who in the name of sanity came up with a religion war ? Do you Devs really belief that a mmo community exists that is mature enough to handle such ? ROFL, not even our best paid politicans IRL are able to.

Why, oh why wasnt it possible to split the e2 island into FvF and PvE zones ? Cause of the PvP timer ? Then why there was not a 2nd place ?

And, in my humble opinion, a mmo company that plays an event where religious leaders call their followers to kill others should get 6 months free subscription in the sunny jail of Marseilles.

No, you're not killing the players, you are killing the characters though. Its frustrating and hurtful for them to be repeatedly killed, especially by people who were once their friends.

And in some ways its actually worse for it to just be treated as a minigame with no consequence, that doesn't forward the story (even if its a bad story).

I was killed hunderds of times yesterday, did that make me unhappy? Nope. I got a little frustrated when those d*mn Kinchers spawn again on top of you, but did make me to quite to event or to not like it anymore, no way. I think it made it more fun, laughing with your own misery can be really funny And it also gives you some time to chat around a bit, make some fun of the opposing faction,...

And I don't get all the complains. Think this story line is perfectly ok for both Kami, Karavan and Neutral! If the majority of the homins in a FvF zone wants to fight, then they fight, for those peaceful homins, cant they then just try to convince them not to fight? Use diplomacy, dappers, mats, whatever, to stop players from killing eachother. You can see it a bit like America and the war in Irak (just as example, no comments on this) Some people wanted the war, others didn't, as the war started, lots of Americans supported it, but when times goes by, the support decreases and finally there will be a majorty against the war, so war will stop... (leaving the fact that the president decides that).
I think something similar can happin on Atys, now it's war, and some people love it, others don't, but this will change. People will get fed up with the war, alliences can be formed (I think of 2 teams of Kami's and Kava's working together and protecting eachother from kinchers/other players) Those homins can work peacefully together, and if they get more influence or respect other homins will join the peacefull site.
So if you really want to be neutral or peacefull, arrange a meeting with the peacefull homins (both factions) and agree that they will work together! That way you can also make a differnce. That is, if there are enough peacefull homins on Atys...
This is just my point of view. Hope it is a bith clear, but I'm sure there ARE peacefull ways to help here if you really want it... Oh and shouting in region in the FvF zone to stop fighting and be peacefull doesnt have any effect...

Smacktalking and gloating are two of the things that make PvP so particularly UNenjoyabe, along with the repeated killing. The core problem with it is levels - which always result in uneveness. But some compensatory changes could be made such as showing 'enemy' faction colours all the way out to 250m to give diggers a bit more of a chance to down tools and take arms.

In many ways laughing and joking about war, the end to peace on Atys, is even more destructive than the PvP itself, if the event is just treated as a football match that makes its impact meaningless - though I'm in two minds about whether the result of that is a good thing.

If you're going to go back to being friends you shouldn't be slaughtering each other.

At present there's nothing that neutrals can really do. We see Tryton's about to stick his oar in story wise but we've already been told any neutral option is RP only and not hardwired into the game mechanics, which makes it a damn sight less effective.

The problem with PvP of any sort is that it only takes one ***hat to spoil things for a larger number of people.

Say a bunch of neutrals entered the zone together, intending to work together. The faction system means that the 'kami' ones cannot heal the 'karavan' ones, nor assist them if the mixed group are attacked by anything other than kitin.

Any reward a neutral homin can offer to keep people from fighting would need to be respected and cannot hope to match people's goal of 'seeing their name in lights' or the nebulous reward that may be gained from honour points - which many I expect are hoping will be similar to the special weapons and gear released at the previous kitin invasion event.

Trying to preach peace or apply pressure through roleplay is ignored or attacked OOC. The PvPers have (finally) gotten what they were after and they're crowing about it, in spite of the long term negative effect it will have on the game. Its pointless. I'm hoping that Fry's attempt to do something different will work, but I have reservations.
