Question 4: Is E2 primarily designed to attract new players or to satisfy the longer term players?
I think they badly need to test the new thing prior to outpost and doing it with this prepatch of outpost, im sure we going to see more new thing in the weeks to come what are closely connected to outpost playing

Evolutioneers to loose in the coming month if not something real good, real fast.
- Machieltje.

The others I dont know about.
Thosam - Hunter of small defenseless animals, Forager near safe areas and Crafter of useless junk.

Isn't that just a bit of hypocracy? You were out last night attacking the Karavan camp.thosholm wrote:Add Thosam to the second part of that list.

you need to pay attention he was butt nikkid and unarmed all the time....
but thanks for this prime example of why the anti PvPers here object to PvP...
Re: Players leaving because of recent events
I don't think many "long time players" just quit after a few days of "new" content. Speaking as a long time player (since Beta 2004), I've been waiting and waiting.......and waiting. Surprises have come....some good/some bad. But, as a neutral character (note this doesn't mean non-PvP...it means neither Kami nor Karavan), Nevrax appears to be offering us only roleplay in the future. As someone who doesn't particularly roleplay that's really not too appealing. And I can't exactly keep doing the same old thing....there's only so many times you can reach 250, especially if the only role for you is to sit around and talk.veilelb wrote:What I do not understand is why these long time players just quit this game that they loved for so long ... after a few days of "new" content ...

And how exactly can I be attacking the Karawan camp, being a Tryker with high Karawan fame and low Kami fame? I mean, I even got this big, glowing Karawan symbol next to my name.

Let me start by putting my relationship with SoR into perspective first, been playing since beta, got a one year subscription at launch. Played SoR for RP, exploration of the world and lore, and for the posibility to influence the progress of the game.
I have been on and off SoR in recent time, since I found the game wanting in what I found interesting and what Nevrax had said the game would be/become (no, I didn't expect them to give us everything, it is rare for games to do that).
I have tried to attend every event out there, player and Nevrax ones, since these are the moments that carry the game forward in huge steps. Of course the day to day playing of the game was an enjoyment too, but events was made SoR something among the MMO games.
Now, as I said earlier, I have found my enjoyment of playing very low and have therefore been looking for something, anything, to keep me going. To me R2 was the answer, but as it turned out it won't be released until next year. So I had to look for something else and the launch of episode 2 sounded really interesting, it appeared to contain a lot of the content I wanted from SoR.
Sadly it didn't turn out far worse, the behavior of the leaders etc. went off on a wild tangent compared to what was laid out in the lore, and what I have experienced during my stay on Atys.
And the only way to be part of the current event would go against what I attempted to roleplay. It wasn't the PvP, it wasn't the turn of story line (it can all be part of something we have to discover), it wasn't the unobtainable rewards in the event based on what 'honour points' I could achive.
No, it was that Nevrax had effectively forced us into two boxes (remember those from another post?) kami and karavan. And the worst part was that there would be no roleplay at all, zero, zip, nada...
What is the point of a RPG if the only RP is between players, and not with the world and the story line as the game was intended and sold as?
P.S.
I did go to the PvP area today, completely against what my character is about, since it wouldn't matter being the last day here. I do think that I owe it to Nevrax and the players to at least try it out.
Did I enjoy it then? No, not really. The most fun I had was chatting in around and in tells.
To Chandra: Sorry for chaseing you off into a kitin
To Dangarhara (who killed me too many times to count): Those chats while dead was fun. Due to all my deaths I was able to beat your highscore in Tetris on the gameboy, the kitin stole from you for me, sorry. You can have the gameboy back when I get my blueberry pie back.

Ulani's head hangs between her shoulders as she walks north from Yrkanis. This time she's not attacked by the Raguses on the hill. She enters the building site, avoids eyecontact with the Karavanists. The pale Matis woman kneels down before the statue outside Yrkanis, she closes her eyes. The people close to her can hear a voice barely audible in the wind.
"- Farewell, fair Blondy. Farewell, Groom of the sand dunes. Holina, you will be remembered. Ishamael, be well, wherever you travel. Sweet little Machieltje and dear Frydeswinde, you've shown that courage and endurance comes in all sizes."
The Matis woman stands up straight, turns and shakes her head, with an expression of despair, at the teleporter when she passes.
