Over one year after release, the only big content addition to the game, and it's mostly about PvP.
We allready had PvP area's in PR, Nexus, and a (more recent) FvF area in Matis. Now we have a brand new area and it's of the kind "don't go there if you don't like PvP" No content for those of us who think PvP belongs in FPS games but we do have to endure the PvPers telling us: "Well, if you don't like PvP, don't go there"...
The PvPers get shiny new toys and we get nothing, that stings and nothing you say can make it better.

I want shiny new things, and I want to them YESTERDAY!

The battle was inevidable to try to get a head start of the opposing faction's temple.

Imagine Arnold Schwartzenegger suddenly decides he wants to do ballet. Imagine how he would look in a pink tutu. Well this is how the most avid PvPers looked last night when they were trying to "roleplay" te part they were assigned...

We all knew there were there for one reason and one reason only: to get as many easy kills as posible by nuking diggers in full focus gear...

Oh joy, more "content" to look forward to. Oh wait, it's not for me as I don't like PvP.....

Specific comments/reasons on what you liked or didn't like about the events so far is very helpful to us; we're meeting daily here to discuss the comments we see on all the forums (French, English and German) and also the comments of the event managers, so we can make adjustments where possible.

And, we want to learn as much as possible from you so, going forward, we do events and episodes more to everyone's tastes, as well. It is a learning process, in that sense. No, we're not experiementing on you, just doing what a good business does; listen to the customer and make adjustments.

* There is no 'honour' in fighting an unarmed opponent. Change the term or do something about how its awarded.
* Guards actually doing their job and protecting diggers from Kitin are getting no honour award, despite that being the most honourable course of action.
* We might want to be 'perverse' and heal the opposing 'side' or even work for them. We've been denied this option. Give us this option.
* We can't sell or trade the materials we dig up (To other homin) - again limiting our options.
* The people are less 'clicky' but a more simple, non-preset way to trade mats in would be quicker and less frustrating.
* Neutrality is not necessarily a matter of fame, faction or race. Neutrality is a state of mind. You should always have the option. Entering a FvF area if you chose neutral perhaps you could be limited to healing actions?

Took me awhile to decide which thread to post in, this seemed most apt.
I voted take it or leave it. I am not really into FvF, I saw a lot of "friends" doing yellow dot impressions (same yellow dots got healed became red then I was doin yellow dot impressions...hrmmm)

I must admit tho, I loved it. I died and got killed sooo many times but for quite awhile YES I was #1 Digger, ner ner :P but thats the only reason it was so much fun, I managed to achieve something from it.

But... its a short term buzz, not a long term thing imo. Something different to do and I approached it with a fun attitude to do new things rather than "I suddenly hate Kami, I have to kill them" attitude. I will return, I have to, I'd slipped to #3 digger while I slept :(

I can fully understand why there are those that hate it as the new content is purely a gankfest in reality and unless you are high level mage (melee was pretty useless) there is nothing to do. If you dig you will get killed as you are an easy target often away from the fighting hordes, and once that has happened a few times the fun is not so appealing.

I will probably have another go tonight (sigh 2 hrs sleep before work again no doubt) but beyond that I'm not so sure.

P.S I have a long list of "kami sinners" now...maybe next time I wont rez you in pr etc :) :)

To me Ryzom isn't just black and white (Kami vs Karavan, Horde vs Alliance, PVP vs PVE) it has loads of greyzones. It made the game more complex, more appealing to a mature audience.

I kind of expected different ways to accomplish the tasks. But earning honorpoints for kills is kind of too simple.

consider making q200/q250 area FvF only... or only q250
let q50/q100/q150 ppl fight with kitins and dig in peace.

maybe make regular kitin patrols (not to heavy just enough that you cant dig solo ;-) ... maybe 2 or 3 lower ones.. group of 5 kipestas go down fast too) to these areas so you need somewhat powerful group of fighters to protect diggers. and give those warriors some honor points

with that: non PvP ppl can dig up to q150/200 mats w/o being ganked by homins and PvP ppl can play "king of the hill" themselves.

I would love to build something permanent on Atys. I would be very proud to contribute. After reading about this event was looking forward to building a temple, seeing new lands, exploration and new challenges. I love Atys for its subtlety, depth, complexity, community and ever changing landscapes.

I avoid PvP, but this sounded different and I went along. I have avoided any games with PvP and this is my first experience of it. I am actually sorry I went to this event. It started very well as I was teamed with a good group of diggers, mostly names that you see on the forums. After about an hour I was still persisting but all those high level players had left. I left after two hours, extremely annoyed and dissapointed vowing not to play again.

I think the concept was good, the land was OK although I really wanted to explore. What spoilt it for me was the points system and the number of people who wanted PvP, however dressed up.

Aelius favours PvP far too much. This is snipped from my write-up on the Eleytheria web-site "It is far too easy for those getting points for killing other players. The easiest targets are the foragers as we only have light armour and very few hitpoints. There is no incentive to guard the foragers since the fighters get no honour points for doing this. The fighters tend to rush past you to kill the opposing foragers for honour points leaving you unprotected to be killed by the Kinchers. Once 'your' fighters are all dead, the opposing fighters sweep back and kill all the foragers, and so on." The foragers get hit multiple times.

Aelius felt that it was totally divorced from the rest of Atys. It lacked any subtlety and felt brutal and crass. The rest of Atys is beautiful and wonderfully executed.

I don't kill other players (except in a due whic is entirley consentual) and I don't like getting killed pointlessly without achieveing anything. Digging in Aelius was an empty and annoying experience; the first time I have felt like this in over seven months of playing SoR.

One of the things that draws me to SoR is the community. I love wandering round Atys teaming and chatting to other people. I now have doubts in my mind about that community having seen the raw joy and lust that some people have for annoying other players. I don't think I can wander round Atys with the same open frame of mind, or at least it will take me a while to get over it.

Aelius had little opportunity to help other people, unlike the rest of Atys.

I wanted to discover new places, new sights maybe new creatures. I wanted my friends with me to explore new lands. I wanted to hunt for new materials. I wanted an extension to what already exists. I wanted to build something permanent. When I read through the forums this is what I was expecting, none of that was there and I feel badly let down.

I play Kindle, High Officer of Eleytheria and honorary member of the Sirens of Atys.
