look, the roleplay point of view, as was preached to us by both the kami and karavan, is that the opposing faction is the enemy and shouldn't be able to build their temple, while we build ours.
The battle was inevidable to try to get a head start of the opposing faction's temple.

Part of the problem, early on, was that the fighters kept advancing all the way to the enemy camp (and usually pulling the camp guards onto themselves). They were forgetting that someone should be protecting their diggers from the Kitin.

I agree that you should get honour for killing the Kitin though, protecting the diggers from them is just as important as protecting them from enemy fanatics.

Just remember that last night was the start of it, it looks like theres more to come. Also remember that because it was the start of it we probably saw more pvp than normal, as things go on I expect it to switch to a harvest/craft battle with pvp there just to slow the other side down.

I am giving this event a 8/10 so far, pretty enjoyable from my perspective

There is a "safe" interval of 4 minutes during which you don't get honor points for repeteadly killing someone.

good to hear.. tho it would have been better if you only get "honor" points when one you killed respawns.

Put me down as one that just doesn't get why this is supposed to be fun. I need a day or 2 off and then I'll see if I can stomach returning. Very disappointed.

This is not the Saga of Ryzom I knew and loved. Where is the beauty, the subtlety, the sense of wonder, exploration and community. Now I can't look at anyone without wondering if they were involved in killing other Players.

Spoilt it for me.

Exactly! What I want to know is where was the neutral option? Where was the option to go in and just heal people and kill kitin? Without being attacked by gankers like Jayce? You couldn't make a choice other than not taking part. You were forced to join the side that your fame allowed. Where's the CHOICE there Nevrax?

I also didn't see any Karavan diggers while I was there, they just seemed to come to fight. The Kami players arrived with a high number of diggers and started digging, the Karavan turned up with no diggers. Or did they turn up later than the fighters, after I had got bored with the whole PvP mess?

The neutral option is in not going in there, since if you go in there you will side with either one of the parties, helping both is no option, helping none is.

There isn't any mechanics in the game (outside of Kami Tolerance and limits on resources) that require a homin to fire upon another. We could easily draw a line in the sand and pull our fill while fighters do the noble thing and protect us.

Our actions define how we are going to change the story. If we fight each other when the safeties are off, blinded by our faith or the l337er inside of us then the Karavan and the Kami (or Nevrax) will be convinced that they can manipulate us into their design.

Here, here. There are enough mats to go round. We could just as easily have dug side by side while the fighters kept the Kitin at bay. But then they wouldn't have received any 'reward' because Nevrax didn't allow for a non-PvP option as they have promised.

We're doing our best to avoid the "must take part in PvP to participate" syndrome. We don't much like the idea of non-consensual PvP, even sideways like that.

That is just dumb. Neutral means you don't pick one side over the other. That you CHOOSE to help both sides. That you still have the option to take part, rather than being forced to miss an event because you refuse to sink to the l33t level.

How is being forced to not take part fair to ALL players? I want to fight KITIN not HOMIN.

well Philu, the option to not take part is the non pvp option
