Should we know ingame IDs of CSRs, GMs etc?

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

I believe the Nevrax folks are not to post on the forums by rule. Only certain representatives are authorized to post on behalf of Nevrax. In fact, I am sure this extends to any character or account they create for personal use.

I am not a Nevrax employee, would love to be if they paid me what I make today and allowed for me to work remotely from my home in the states, and be in the office 1 week a month.

My background is in Computing Systems Design, Architecture, Development Methodologies, as well as Human, Group/Team, and Organizational Dynamics for 15 years. I can see the things that are being accomplished and the pains that are being taken to get things in order. I wish these all happened overnight, however from a lot of experience, even if you want things to happen quickly and have the right intentions, things get in the way.

Noin.
(Not working for Nevrax, but supporting there good efforts, and not happy about the delays. I expect Outposts by July 4th, or July 14th :( )

As we have seen by the support, typically these folks are selected because they are cheerleaders. You can go to many events and see it's a glee club, they would be silly to slam the game when they are being fed by it.

It makes ya wonder... they are all typically friendly, but I prefer a CSR that responds with solid answer over the ones that stand in the town center using emotes and such...

Just to clear up a point before it becomes an issue; CSRs are unpaid volunteers who give their time to the game and do an incredible job. SGMs & GMs I believe, are paid and also do an excellent job.

However, neither category would last long if their character was slagging Nevrax off. Therefore there is an automatic bias in any comment made. I am suggesting we know about the bias. That's all.

Alyssah,

I am no Nevrax employee, guide or anything but a player. Perhaps I am naive, but I think your question has a slightly paranoid flavor. I imagine that nearly anyone who plays an MMO enough to build a high level character will have a large investment of emotion and time in a game. Inevitably, people will love or hate certain aspects and will develop strong opinions about and a close attachment to the game. Hence, fanboism is a naturally occuring phenomena and there is no reason to suppose that extreme fans are shills.

Well that kinda makes sense! Nevrax employs Jolt to look after customer IG related issues! Jolt wanna keep getting employed by nevrax thus no slagging off!

If you work in an office and want to keep your job but then because you are "unbiased" you truthfully tell your boss what a loser he is... you cant expect to keep your job can you?

I think biased is the wrong word here.

Where did this crazy thread come from?

Hi guys ;)

I'd like to use the opportunity to respond to your questions and give you an overview on our policy here, it is a justified concern and by all means you can and you should expect us to take abuse, or potential opportunities for abuse seriously.

However, I would of course vouch for any of our boys and girls anytime. Anyone can play and enjoy this game, but it takes a special breed to also want to help others, and to have the maturity and common sense to use - and not abuse - strong powers and abilities in the process.

During my time at previous online games and communities, I've seen pretty much everything getting abused once or twice. There always has been and most likely, always will be people who abuse the tools or powers they have been granted. Something that's true, not only for online games. ;)

Back when we created these forums, the tools we work with, our extensive staff training program, guidelines and policies, we were able to take these things and our own experiences into account, in order to prevent such abuse.

Regarding the question, whether our CSR's should reveal their identity through their forum signature (or any other means for that matter) - It is important to keep our personal and professional identities separate. In addition to the reasons outlined above, we would like to give our folks the opportunity to play and enjoy this game just like normal people when they're off-duty.

Many of our CSR's, especially our team of volunteer guides, are active and passionate SoR players and I am sure you guys can understand that it would nearly be impossible for them to play the game, without being treated differently and without receiving continuous help requests from other fellow players, if everyone knew who they are. ;)

What about those CSRs that wont even listen to why you think you found a bug cause they believe themselves to be a more knowledgeable player then you are  Last thing I want to hear from a CSR is "your wrong cause I'm a forager"

I don't think we should know CSRs or GMs in game IDs. Just think what it would be like if you where a GM and you played the game on your off time. If people know who you where, you would never have a free moment to enjoy the game.
I do think it is better for them to think before posting if they do. They should provide helpful information but not twist post with information that other plays don't know.

Do you think that players should declare whether or not they are part of the Nevrax team when answering threads in the forum?

Ps. Be aware that your answer may well be a clue.
I´m no "employee" or "volunteer" either, but... you do remember a town called Salem?
Just an Example.
I wrote a Ticket ticket once about a minor bug I´d found.
A day later, as we were trying to get Aen, a well known Guide contacted me and asked me to show him the problem. I said: Ok, come over.
He popped in right before me, and at the same Nanosecond our Guild-Chat exploded with accusations and specualtions, whom he might be InGame. And if he´d be only there to spy on our Tactic to kill Aen. We had a pretty "heated" discussion about that, belive you me.
I tried my best to quench the fire, because I actually had CALLED the poor guy there, but to almost no avail.
I think its the HIGHT of childishness and simple stupidety to think such things of someone who´s just trying to help built a better Game.
Call me naive, but I belive that Jolt, or Nevrax for that matter KNOW who they give resposibility for something to.

*shakes head and walks of*

I agree with Lawrence on this topic, really u think its fair to even ask for the idents bc there csr? why?...

I mean they do a job for us, fair enough may sometimes not be what u wana hear but they do a good job imo.

They need to beable to just switch off being csr and enjoy the game as we all do, dont u think thats fair?

I dont understand this topic tbh bc CSR are helpers to Jolt and Ryzom and its like when there Players its them at home playing the same as us.

I say let them have there space and peace and get on with the game :D why we play it, not to anaylise it all the time. :D

Peace :D
